Greg was sat down on the sofa, preparing to watch the football. It was the world cup heats, England vs Croatia, what a match this was going to be.
The English team had walked on, shaken hands with some people and were now lined up as music began to play.
"Gregory what are you doing?" Mycroft's voice came from the doorway.
Greg glanced over, not really sure why he'd been asked the question. "Watching football...?"
"But that's the national anthem."
"Yeah."
"You're sat down."
"Yeah."
"You have to stand for the national anthem." Mycroft said, sounding almost astonished that Gregory could just be sitting there.
"Oh yeah? That something they taught you at Eton was it?" Greg replied, turning his attention back towards the screen in front of him.
"Cambridge actually, and no. It's just basic human decency." Mycroft made his way over to where Greg was sat and just looked at him blankly. "Are you going to stand up or not?"
"Not." Greg said before patting the seat next to him. "Just sit down and watch the game with me instead of worrying about it."
"I'm not sure I can watch it with someone like you." Mycroft responded before turning towards the tv and standing up straight for the national anthem.
Greg rolled his eyes. "Aren't you supposed to salute as well?" He asked, clearly mocking the other man.
"You can make jokes all you like, but I actually know the queen. If she ever found out I neglected my duty to queen and country-"
"It's standing for the national anthem not letting her get assassinated." Greg said with a raised eyebrow.
"I see absolutely no difference between those two things." Mycroft replied, still standing up right and straight faced.
Greg rolled his eyes, again and grabbed Mycroft's arm, pulling the man back down onto the sofa before he put his arms around him. "What's this? You're not standing up? My my, what would the queen think?"
Mycroft huffed, a small smile growing on his face despite himself. "I hate you."
Greg just smiled and gave Mycroft a small affectionate squeeze. "No you don't. But the queen might do. What would she say if she knew you were dating someone like me?"
"I do hate it when you use my own words against me." Mycroft said, wanting to at least act like he was upset with Greg but also just wanting to completely melt into his embrace. He heard Greg chuckle at what he'd said, which wasn't helping his irritated act. "But she'd probably say how wonderful you were and tell me to hold onto you forever."
Greg grinned into Mycroft's shoulder before kissing his cheek. "The queen sounds like she has good taste."
It was Mycrofts turn to roll his eyes, but he was still smiling anyway.
They spent the rest of the afternoon like that seeing as it really didn't take long for Mycroft abandon his plan of pretending to be somewhat upset and go with the plan of melting into Greg.
