"Mycroft?"

"Yes Gregory?"

"You're smart. You're an angel. Is there a way for me to be good?"

Mycroft looked over at his friend, his demon friend. A good demon? Definitely not. "If there is I don't know it."

"Oh, ok..."

"Why do you ask?"

"I don't want to be a demon." Greg felt bad for even saying such a thing. He'd been given life, given work, given opportunities. He had to remind himself that none of which he asked for.

"Why is that?" Mycroft had asked softly.

"Look at these people." Mycroft did just that and looked around, he saw humans going about their days, nothing special. "I don't want to make them miserable. I don't want to hurt them."

The angel spent a moment taking in what Gregory had said. "But that is what you do."

"We all do things we don't want to."

"...You're very wise." Mycroft said after a moment and saw a small smile arrive on Gregory's lips. "For a demon."

Greg grinned. "I think that's probably the highest compliment any demon has ever received from an angel."

"Very possibly."

They sat for a while longer in silience. Comfortable silence. Mycroft broke it after some careful consideration. "Gregory, do you think I'm a good angel?"

"All angels are good, Mycroft."

"Yes but, I mean, am I good at it? Am I good at being an angel?"

The demon was a little taken aback by the question but he answered almost imediantly. "You're a fantastic angel!"

"Now that is definietly the highest praise any angel has ever received from a demon." Mycroft smiled to himself before it fell slightly. "Am I really as 'fantastic' as you say?"

"Of course you are!" Greg said, giving his friend a reassuring look. "Why do you ask?"

"I don't feel like it. I feel useless." The angel paused for a moment. He looked at his white garments, he didn't feel like he belonged in them. "I don't know what I'm doing. I try to be good, I try to make people's lives happier but I just can't."

"Well you've made my life happier." The words left Greg's mouth before he could stop them, but he didn't regret them, not even for a second.

"Do you really mean that?"

"I do."

Mycroft's soft smile returned and his cheeks were dusted a slight shade of pink.

Greg thought it was adorable. "So what you get a little confused sometimes? It's natural. Not even angels aren't perfect."

"Well technically-"

"Oh shut it. I'm trying to make you feel better, work with me a bit here."

Mycroft nodded sheepishly. He'd been so wrapped up in his own problem he didn't notice a demon being nice. Hang on. "You're being kind to me."

"What else am I gonna do? Turn you into a frog?"

"No Gregory. You're being kind. A demon, being kind. You're being good."

"Oh, so I am." Greg's eyes lit up and a big smile found his lips. "That wasn't hard at all."

"Well you have had a good teacher." The angel smirked. He was happy to see his friend so cheerful looking. The way Gregory's eyes sparkled warmed his heart. A demon warming an angels heart, who would have thought.

"Yeah, yeah I have." The demon replied genuinely.

Mycroft blushed again, not expecting another compliment to come out of this.

"Anyway, can I take you to lunch?" Greg asked, getting to his feet.

Mycroft also stood up and smiled warmly at his demon friend. "Naturally."
