it was a tiring day from school when i got home and my mom and brother greeted me a happy birthday and then showed me a medium-sized brown box with lots of balloons pinned on the curtains.

"a surprise for you, i think? you have a package." she said and handed the box to me while i was confused.

"what package? who would send a package for me?" i asked mom and i saw her smile.

"it's from korea."

my eyes went so wide and got all excited while i aggressively opened the box.

i saw beomgyu's father's name on it and it was sent to our address under my mom's name.

the first thing i did was to get my phone and opened my kakao talk.

beomgyu hasn't opened my message yet, i guess he was still in school.

dear beomgyu,

that was the first time i received a gift from a friend. you were so kind and generous. i liked all your gifts— the little prince book, two snow globes, a notebook, a pillow, a plushie, and a handwritten letter. it was hard reading your letter because of your penmanship and there are some hangul parts that i cannot understand.

you told me that you liked the book you gave me and i hope that i will read and like it too. you said the snow globes were in exchange of my favorite snow globe that i gave you. it was amazing, that you made it personalized with our picture inside it. the notebook you gave me contained your handwritings but it was all in hangul so i didn't understand it. the pillow you gave me was as soft as your fluffy hair and as soft as you. the ryan plushie you gave me was so soft that i just wanna hug it all day. you said, you can hug ryan if you miss me, it's like hugging me too. and that's what i always do.

i still hug ryan whenever i miss you. and the amounts of hugs ryan received was uncountable.

i really, really miss you, vanna. i hope i can be there on your special day, but unfortunately i can't. i will see you again when i come back in manila. i will surely see you again. happy birthday, best friend! love, beomgyu.
