"What?" I stared at her incredulously
She blinked
"You don't remember me?How can you not remember me? The doctor didn't mention anything about a blasted memory loss! Call that bloody idiot"
"What..? Papa"
The Don just stared at her stunned
"You forgot all of our time together ?All of our date nights? Our time on the island? Shooting sessions?..."
"Shooting?? You took her shooting?"
I barely heard the Don. I shook her shoulders in a frustrated attempt
"All of our stay in weekends? The baking sessions? Car races? Anything?"
When she shook her head, I heaved a frustrated sigh and ran a hand through my hair for the millionth time that day
That was when I heard her barely contained giggles which turned into a a full blown laughter when I turned to look at her
" Sir, can you give us a minute?"
I asked the Don without my gaze leaving her face, Don raised an eyebrow at me in question
"I wanna talk to him privately daddy" she said in between her spurts of laughter
"Very well, stay safe sweetie. I'll be right outside"
He threw a warning glance at me before shutting the door to give us some privacy
"What's so funny?"
"You! Omg! Did you just admit taking me shooting infront of my dad?" she doubled over in laughter "and stay in weekends?He's gonna kill you.. "
"Seeing that you're well enough to play pranks I'm assuming you're feeling ok?"
"I'm fine, don't fret. I'm just a little sore"
"Why didn't you say that before? Let me call the doctor"
She stopped me by my hand
"I said I'm fine. I need to talk to you"
"Oh you have a lot of explanation to do and trust me, at this point I want to personally throttle you"
She snickered
"My dad and brothers are just outside that door" she reminded me
"Oh I know, I don't think they'll ever let me forget it" I said, rolling my eyes
"I was gonna tell you, you know.. When you tell me about your friends but you never did"
I gave her a pointed gaze and her laughter only grew
"Do you remember anything about the kidnapping?"
She sobered up at that
"It's all fuzzy but I remember when the doctor called my name, I walked in and he was acting strange. He injected something and I lost consciousness. I'm sorry I shouldn't have gone without..."
I pulled her towards my chest and hugged her
"I'm so glad you're ok baby. It killed me to see you lying lifelessly. I'm sorry, I failed to protect you"
"Don't say that, you did everything you could. If only I listened to you"
"Don't you dare blame this on yourself. Once we find out who's behind all this, I promise I'll make him regret the day he was born"
She sobbed into my shirt as I held her in my arms for a long time after that
"I can't bear to lose you darling, I love you" I kissed her hair
She looked up at me with glassy eyes
"Oh Lucien! I love you too" she said and I tightened my arms around her
She was back where she belongs, safe and in my arms
