FORGET ME NOT

Park Sana looked up and sent me a nervous yet somewhat bitter smile after she shook hands with the boy across the court, most probably the Captain of Gangwon Academy's basketball team. It is a common courtesy act for the Captains before and after each game to shake hands and as Sana was taking over my position, she was immediately given temporary Captainship, much to Yoongi's distaste. She walked towards her strategic location, both shoulders tensed, taking a similar stance to her team mates. The slightly oversized dark red and black jersey fitted her in with the rest, but she radiated a sort of bitter fear that tore her significantly apart.

"She's terrified," Taeyong pointed out the obvious, "And she should be. They are all coming to crush her."

The tall figures of the opposing team suddenly seemed like a greater challenge to my team than ever. A boy with dark blue hair had choosen to stand in front of Yoongi and he practically loomed over him, his expression full of conceited scorn.

The ever familiar sharp whistle went, hitting me with a pang and the ball went flying.

It felt....different, seeing the whole scene on court from the audience's perspective after so long. It tore at my heartstrings as I watched my team struggle along in the game. My eyes caught the only girl on court's, hoping to give her some morale support and courage through our eye contact. She wasn't fairing well. At all. She looked absolutely drained

We were lagging behind by a whooping thirty and we were just half way into the first game.

"Why aren't our kids working together?" Taeyong frowned, glaring at the opposing team, "This is really bad. We're going to lose."

After what felt like a century, the refree finally caught on to the fouls the opposing team was making and gave Yoongi a free shot, which thankfully went in. The game continued from there, looking more and more heartwrecking.

"I can't watch on anymore," I mumbled, "I'm going to grab some drinks from the canteen."

"Get me a bottle of water too, thanks," Taeyong hummed distractedly, passing me a few dollar bills.

I eyed the large bunch of notes in my palm, knowing full well a bottle of water costs less than a quarter he was just shoving at me, but I was too mentally drained to even question him.

I dragged my feet out of the indoor Basketball Courts and through the glass doors where the Canteen in it's dull glory awaited.

The Canteen was completely empty, not even a litter in sight, oddly. All the shops were closed, locked even. Thankfully, the vending machines were still working. I got Taeyong's basic water and energy drinks for the team, before heading over to the snacks machine, grinning delightedly at the sight of my favourite sour candy seating temptingly at the corner of the machine. I whipped out my remaining coins, counting them slowly.
