ONE YEAR BEFORE THE START OF 'POINT-GUARD'
GWANGJIN-GU, SEOUL HIGH SCHOOL

"I expect a lot from you, Ms Kim," my new math teacher looked up approvingly from her computer screen, where my entire life's math grades were flashed on. Damn, I hate technology, even that 2/10 i got for this one kindergarten test was recorded.

"Please don't," I chuckled, still half-glaring at that nasty 2/10 when she pointed me towards an empty seat.

"IMO (International Math Olympiad) gold medalist for nine years straight? How could I not?" the teacher beamed, her entire face brightening. "Let's hope you do better than your teammate Mark."

I returned her a nervous smile and made my way to the assigned seat as quietly as possible so I wouldn't wake those who were dozing away in the classroom. Not trying to get enermies on the first day of school, y'know. Don't wanna live the rest of my high school days with a reputation of being that lil' asshole who just had to be so noisy for no damn valid reason.

I slumped into the chair as soon as my butt touched it, and laid my head on the scratched table. Damn, I'm so tired. My eyelids drooped and I felt myself fall into semi-unconciousness...

"MARK LEE!" I jolted awake, blinking my bleary eyes at the now red and raging teacher. A few of my previously sleeping classmates whined. "Do you think i'm blind?" She continued on her merciless yelling, wagging a furious finger in my tablemate's general direction.

The boy seated beside me ruffled his brown hair, smiling boyishly at the enraged lady, "Ms Kwon, you look extremely dashing today."

My eyes drank in his features delightfully. Perfect brows, perfect lips, cute nose- Damn, those eyes. His wide eyes screamed of an innocence I'd never knew existed and the adorable way it landed on each and everything in sight made me want to protect him at all cost.

"Why are you late, young man?" the teacher continued, unfazed by the charming boy's antics.

"What a good question. I'm glad you asked!" He clapped his hands together comically. "You see, I was preparing to look my finest so I can impress you, Ms Kwon," the brunette boy widdened his winning grin, making our classmates giggle and squeal. "What ever else could be the reason? Absolutely nothing, ma'am. I'm a good boy."

"Which poor girl did you terrorize today?" Ms Kwon sighed, rubbing her temples like a mother who'd to deal with her most rebellious kid's same bullshit for the hundredth time.

"Bold of you to assume I was terrorizing a girl, Ms Kwon!"

"Yeah, he was terrorizing a boy," came a yell from outside the class. The boy who spoke raised two thumbs up. From how he was just lazing out on the corridor and how the teacher in the class opposite ours is glaring at him, I strongly suspected he originated from that class and had just been forced to stand outside as a punishment, which wasn't going as his teacher had planned.
