"You're on your own, Vernon," Mark patted the pouting boy on his shoulder, "This stall has a one bowl per person sales protocol."

"You can cut in behind me," I offered helpfully.

The coffee-bean haired boy shook his head, "It's fine, the queue isn't that long anyways, i'll just go to the back."

With a final sympathetic smile, Mark and i ordered our food and left the crowded stall to find empty seats.

Surprisingly, our wavy haired friend had already found a bench and was hogging it entirely. Hyunjin's usual pair of round glasses was sliding off his nose bridge as he hunched over a Biology practice book, attempting to finish as many questions as possible before his upcoming test.

Neatly written notes were laid out on the bench like a sacrificial ring infront of him, fluttering in their binders. As if sensing our presence, he looked up, the corners of his lips twitching up. For someone who just got beaten up two days ago, he looked relatively in good state.

"There's no use in cramming now, Hwang," Mark stacked his notes into a pile directly in front of Hyunjin so we could have some space to eat, "This should have been done weeks ago. What were you even busy with?"

"Having a life," Hyunjin yawned, "Not everyone only has one friend like you, Mark."

"Are we not friends?" Mark glanced at him, insulted.

"Exactly why I said one friend, dumbass. I am the one friend," Hyunjin rubbed his eyes sleepily.

"Well, I'm sure Soyeon and I are friends," Mark gave him a smug look, "So that's two friends."

"That's honestly still quite miserable," I pointed out.

"Exactly," the amused voice of Lee Taeyong chimed in as the sharp jawed boy slid into the seat beside Hyunjin.

"Shut up, hyung. You don't even know what's going on," Mark complained.

The newly arrived boy just grinned, forking a slice of beef, "Where's Chwe?"

"Being a good kid and actually queuing," Mark shrugged.

Taeyong hummed his approval, "Thank God the poor boy didn't get bad influenced by you guys."

"Excuse you," Hyunjin gave Taeyong a mockingly offended look, "What do you mean? I'm a pure, innocent soul."
