"Oi, guys, the results are out!"
Hyunjin bursts into the class, holding up his phone excitedly. His hair was messily shrewn across his forehead, imbedded amongst columns of sweat.
"Great, who got Lee Donghyuck?" Mark sits up straighter in the seat he temporarily claimed.
"You."
The whole team broke into boisterous laughter as Mark buried his red face into his hands, whining loudly.
"On the brighter side for you, Vernon didn't get Chan either," Hyunjin glanced at the picture of the list on his phone to confirm his statement, "And you aren't one of the few with double mentees."
"Lee Donghyuck is four people on his own already," Mark grumbled, looking up from his hands miserably, "But who got Chan?"
"Taeyong."
We all turned to the said boy, surprised.
"It's always the most unlikely ones that snatch up the best candidates," i mimicked Taeyong's words from two days ago, trying my best to immitate his deep voice, "Was this foreshadowing, Lee?"
"An unexpected betrayal," Vernon sighed mournfully, stretching his arms above his head to release the tension in his upper body.
"You're one to talk about betrayal," Taeyong folded his arms pettily, smoldering eyes narrowed.
"Wha-"
"Tea," Mark whispered to me extremely loudly, seemingly unaware that everyone could hear him.
"On the bright side, Vernon, you got Jeno as your mentee," Hyunjin continued, still looking at the list on his phone.
"The kind of scrawny one? With nice eyes?" Vernon leaned forward excitedly, "Wow, i'm so blessed."
"It's not the silvery-haired one, right?" I clarified, looking at my team mates for confirmation, "That boy did mention at the trials that he hoped to get a Guard position."
"The silver-haired one is Jaemin, isn't it?" Mark's forehead scrunched, holding up a finger, "Or did Jeno jump the bandwagon of looking elderly too?"
Yoongi gave Mark a sour look, styling his own grey hair consciously.
"There's no need to be mean, Mark," Taeyong chastises, "And yes, Jaemin is the silver-haired one. Do you walk around school blind and deaf, Kim?" My jaw dropped. Was this man hearing how contradictory he sounds?
Hyunjin glanced up to snigger meanly in my direction, before glancing down at the list again, "I don't think anyone's going to be surprised that Yoongi got Jungkook?"
We all exchanged an unfazed look.
"Just as i thought."
"Did Chenle get Taeyong?" I inquired, rubbing my hands together, "I saw the poor boy practically begging Coach Lee to be mentored by him."
