- Chapter 12 -

"You look terrible," my mum said, fussing over me as I sat on the kitchen counter. My head was throbbing and I felt weak. I didn't know how much Tyler did to me, but the side effects were not what I was expecting.

"Mum, I'm fine .. really," I replied, scratching my head. My mum refused to believe it, and got me a mug of hot chocolate. She even got something cold to put on my head. She then looked up at me.

"Is everything alright? Did something happen? When was this?" my mum started pounding me with questions. I really didn't know how I was going to tell her everything. I mean, really. It's not as if I was going to look her in the eye and say 'Mum, I almost got raped by my step-brother'. So I thought of a cover-up.

"I .. forgot my jacket on the way home and then ended up banging my head on my door.." my mum smiled, and put away the cold cloth. It was then that I realised that my bedroom door was no longer attached to its hinges, so I put my hot chocolate on the counter and rushed up the stairs.

Once reaching my room, I was happy to see that Tyler was no longer lying on the floor cowering and that my door was back in its place. Must have been the work of my 'hero'. I laughed lightly to myself, and searched my room to find the PJ's I was wearing before Tyler took them off.

I had just finished putting on my top when something on my desk vibrated. I walked over to it and picked up my phone. I had gotten a text from Yale.

hey abby, you home?

 I quickly texted him back.

yeah i am. why?

I was gonna put my phone down, but I got another text.

can i come over, if thats okay?

 I smiled.

of course you can :) is everything alright?

 Yale replied within seconds.

i'll explain when i get there

I frowned and put down my phone. What was up that made him want to come over? I walked out of my room and peeped through the door of Tyler's bedroom. No-one inside. Feeling slightly relieved, and I ran down the stairs and into the kitchen.

My mum had already started making dinner, so I opened the fridge and took out a small carton of yoghurt.

"Where's Tyler?" I asked, grabbing a spoon from the cupboard and taking a spoon of my yoghurt.

"Went out. He said he had somewhere to go to," she replied, shrugging. I nodded.

"My friend Yale's coming over," I added, walking to the kitchen door. "The guy who came over the first day of school." My mum nodded.

"No problem. He can stay for dinner if he likes!" I laughed, and walked into the living room. Minutes later, the door bell rang. I dropped my yoghurt and spoon and rushed to the door, opening it with slight force.

"Wow, what's the rush?" Yale remarked, laughing. I shrugged, and hugged him. I quickly pulled back.

"You're all .. wet," I said, making a sickly face. He laughed again.

"No shit," he said, poking me in the stomach. "It's raining." I stuck my hand out and nodded when I felt splashes of water hitting my arm. I looked up at Yale.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, taking hold of his hand. He shrugged.

"I guess." I wasn't convinced, and dragged him into the house and pulled him up the stairs and to my room.
