Chapter 44a

“Abigail’s missing,” Jenna yelled into her phone as she made her way down the hall. “I’ve been looking for her for ages, and I can’t find her. I’ve got no one else to come help me look, and I’m perfectly sure Max has got her.” Tyler sighed on the other line. The situation was getting any easier, and the fact that Max had Abigail completely tied up wasn’t going to be easy to get through.

“Well, when was the last time you spoke to her?” Tyler asked, sounding worried. “And where?” Jenna paused for a moment, before replying.

“Earlier today in one of the main halls of the building. We were checking out some models before Max came in. Abigail had a headache and wanted to take a nap, so Max walked her to our dorm. I followed them afterwards, but the room was empty.” Jenna heard Tyler mutter a swear word, and her heart pounded.

“The only thing we can do; or at least what you can do is keep a look out for Abby. I may have to come over there if you don’t find her, and-“

“Tyler you can’t leave. Yale is in great danger, and if you come here, who will look after him?”

“Jenna, Yale’s going to be fine just as long as he stays in the right area. He’s old enough to do what’s best for himself, right?” Jenna sighed heavily, her patience running low.

“Do you care about Abby?” She asked.

“Yes Jenna, I do.”

“Then look after Yale for her. If you don’t, she’ll go mental.”

“Fine. But make sure you find Abby quickly.” The call ended, and Jenna put her phone in her pocket. Jumping onto her bed, she lay down, thinking what to do next. It wasn’t even five minutes when someone knocked on her dorm room door. She got up from her bed, and quickly opened the door.

“Can I come in?” Jenna nodded slowly, surprised at who was standing in the doorway.

“Cody? What’re you doing here?” Cody smiled, and walked over to one of the beds and sat down.

“You’d be surprised. I’ve been seeing everything that’s been going on for the past couple weeks between you guys.” Jenna raised an eyebrow, looking completely confused.

“You have?” Cody nodded, and beckoned Jenna to come sit next to him.

“You have to keep quiet though, or we might be in great danger. I know where Abigail is, and I know what Max is up to at this very moment.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Jenna whispered, a hand over her mouth. “You know all this?” Cody nodded, and moved closer to her.

“I saw Max bringing her down to the cellar. I followed them because I got slightly suspicious about the way Max was behaving with her. I know a short cut to get there. And to add to that, Max is no longer here in the building. He’s completely gone. Our dorm was a room next to his, and apparently his roommates say he’s gone.” Jenna cursed under her breath. If Max was no longer here, either he’d done something really bad to Abigail, or he left because of the plan attack on Yale.

“I don’t think I can handle this anymore,” Jenna whispered, feeling tears welling up in her eyes. Cody hugged her, and stood up.

“Come on. We’ve got to find Abigail before anything else happens.”
