Chapter 30

Abigail's POV

I grabbed Jenna’s arm, and quickly dragged her down the hall, and to the nearest bathroom. A surprised look was plastered on her face, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“What’s going on?” She asked, as we entered the bathroom. I dropped my bag down in a corner, and turned to face her.

“You will not believe this,” I muttered, eyeing her seriously. She laughed, and leaned against one of the sinks.

“It’s Yale right?” She questioned. I nodded, and felt the sudden urge to let out a bucket full of tears. Jenna sighed and put an arm around me.

“If he were a real boyfriend, he’d have explained everything to you before you guys started dating. Seriously. That’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard.” I nodded, as tears began sliding down my cheeks.

“I really thought I could trust him,” I mumbled, licking my lips as the salty tears forced their way into my mouth. "I thought he'd be loyal enough to at least tell me what was going on. I could have somehow helped him!" Jenna shook her head, and gave me a hug.

"When have guys ever been loyal. Come on." I smiled and nodded.

"I guess you're right." She chuckled, and pulled back.

"So, what exactly happened out there? If I may ask." I rolled my eyes and leaned against the bathroom wall.

"He was expecting to 'explain' everything to me. But I told him there's nothing to explain. He told me he didn't love me, but yet has the nerve to want to make everything better? That confuses me." Jenna nodded in agreement, and ruffled her hair out of her eyes.

"I don't think he's worth it," she stated, stretching. "If he were, he'd have told you what was going on. And to be honest, it isn't the kinda thing you'd want to tell your girlfriend, but seriously, since you've gotten into this situation, you have the right to know." I nodded, even though I didn't want to accept that he wasn't worth it, because he was.

I had to admit, I still loved him. A lot. I just didn't want to give into him yet. What he did really hurt me, and I knew that he deserved to feel the pain as well.

"You planning on doing anything about this?" Jenna asked, checking her make-up. I shrugged, leaning further against the wall.

"I don't really know," I admitted. "I was thinking of .. getting him back or whatever, but now that I think about it, it seems like a pretty stupid idea." Jenna curled her lips and shrugged.

"I guess," she replied, "but I think it'd be better if you just ignored him for now. It's better if he knows that you're upset and won't talk to him, than getting back at him and making the situation ten times worse." I nodded and sighed, knowing she was right.

"Shall we get to class then?" I asked, walking to my bag, and picking it up." Jenna nodded, and did the same. I didn't even get the chance to reach for the door handle, when a loud thud came from the door. I leaped back in surprise, knocking Jenna over. She peered up at me with a confused expression, and I replied with a shrug.

I helped her up, and then proceeded to open the door. I looked around the hall to see it completely deserted. I looked over at Jenna, who was equally confused.

"What the hell was that?" I muttered, walking to the middle of the hall way. Jenna shrugged, and walked over to where I was standing.

"No clue. But whoever it was wants to know what we were talking about; or know what was going on," Jenna replied. Then she raised her eyebrows. "Whatever, let's get to class. We're probably late!" I laughed, and followed her as we made our way to mentor hour.

"All right class, settle down!" our new mentor said, trying his best to quieten the class. I quickly took a seat next to Jenna near the front of the classroom, dropping my bad on the floor next to my desk. As soon as the class had quietened down, our mentor, Mr. Hills, took out the register. He peered at the students in the class, and once his eyes laid on me, did I realise that something was wrong.

"Is everything alright Miss Lockwood?" he asked, standing up and leaning his hands on his desk. I nodded, a surprised look on my face. I then found out why he was looking at me due to something cold trailing slowly down my cheek. I quickly brushed my eyes with my sleeves, knowing I was still letting down tears.

"Y-yes, everything's fine," I replied, still rubbing my eyes. "I sometimes let off tears when I'm tired. It's normal." Mr. Hills didn't look very convinced, but shrugged anyway and turned to the rest of the class.

"Alright class, I have a couple announcements to make," Mr. Hills said, looking through some papers. "First announcement is about our new students. We've got three people coming into the class. They'll be here soon, and I'd like to ask volunteers to help show them around."

I looked over at Jenna who shrugged and smiled.

"If there's going to be a new guy, I hope he's hot," she whispered, winking. I chuckled and nodded.

"It's about time you had a new man in your life," I replied, playing with my pencil. Jenna laughed, and gave me a playful slap on the arm.

"Yeah, well it's true!" Jenna nodded, and smiled. Mr. Hills then cleared his throat and shuffled a couple more sheets of paper.

"The second announcement is quite exciting," he said, smiling. The class started talking in low mumbles and whispers. "From next week, you'll be off on an excursion for your history classes. You'll be staying for a week, and only this class will be going." The class suddenly started to cheer and some people exchanged high-fives.

I turned to Jenna and smiled.

"This is gonna be fun," I said. Jenna nodded in agreement.

"I really can't wait." I then frowned.

"What did Mr. Hills mean about on our class going?" Jenna shrugged, and looked up ahead at the bored.

"No idea; he probably means Yale's class," she replied, playing with her hair. "They don't take history classes, so they don't need to go on the trip." I nodded slowly, feeling a rush of disappointment wash over me. I was really hoping that Yale would be there too; just at the same time, it would be better if he wasn't.

"You're not gonna miss him, are you?" Jenna asked suddenly. I snapped my head towards her and shook my head.

"Of course not!" I replied, feeling my cheeks heating up. Jenna eyed me suspiciously, but shrugged anyway.

"Alright, whatever you say."
