30. full of surprises

as hyunjin followed changbin down the stairs, he couldn't help but think. 'changbin hyung has been going through a lot already, and yet I'm just making this even harder for him.'

inside, he was blaming on himself. because changbin hasn't been doing his job ever since he had been locking himself in his room for almost over a week now, it has been affecting changbin's weekly salary.

and he was utterly sorry for that. he wanted to make up for it but he wasn't sure how. guilt and sympathy was filling his heart, each step he took the more he could feel it inside.

changbin didn't seem to notice because he was too excited that he couldn't wait to see everyone's face when they see hyunjin outside of his room.

when they got down, changbin led hyunjin to the living room where everyone was gathered at. concern but a little sense of hope danced around the air as soon as he stepped into the room.

pair of eyes stared at changbin as if he was one of the doctors involved in the surgery, waiting to hear what the result was for their wounded family member.

to their surprise, he happily smiled. that was when a familiar figure also stepped into the room - their reaction was priceless.

the younger weakly smiled. each person's jaw dropped to the ground, maids standing up in shock. nobody expected this and neither did the father.

one by one, each maid ran to the boy, engulfing him to a gigantic tight hug. they were all crying their hearts out and for a split second, hyunjin's eyes watered. changbin saw and sincerely smiled.

everyone was worried sick for him and for the first time, he knew. with the maids circling hyunjin, changbin's eyes landed on the father in front of him.

he was confused at to why the father wasn't reacting the same as the maids, the man was just standing there observing the sight. his eyes for a moment looked sad but at the same time happy.

the older wondered why until he realised that the man's eyes were on him. and when their eyes were on each other, the man smiled. what was it that made him like this? he wanted to find out but then he thought that he wasn't in the place to be involved.

so instead, changbin politely bowed.

"changbin!" the said male glanced over to the owner of the voice. it was one of the maids. "I want to thank you, honestly how do you do it??"

he chuckled. "it was nothing."

"no, it has to be something! hyunjin wouldn't easily open the door to just anyone would he?" the other maids agreeing in sync.

"oh, then I must be someone special to him." he stated, glancing over to the boy who shyly looked away. nobody could tell but right now, he was blushing like madness when his eyes met with the one of his dreams.

the maids heartedly laughed, changbin unsure whether or not they were taking it seriously or as a joke. but he didn't let that get to him, he was sure that it must have meant something.

however, he didn't want to think of it as that thought. it was probably because hyunjin has great respect of him since they are really close and that was it.

there was a slight thought inside him that wanted to think of something else but he didn't allow it.

now that the younger has finally came out of the room, how was he gonna tell minho and the others?

just as he was thinking of how he was gonna tell them, his phone pinged. changbin raised his eyebrow in confusion and opened his phone to see a group chat added by no one other than his best friend.
