"YOU REMIND ME OF SOMEONE."-
"Are you sure you want to leave him here? Is it safe?" Millie asks, her arms were crossed as she looked up at Caleb.
Both of them were talking, standing in his backyard. Gaten and Finn were in the back shed, he was showing Finn around and telling him all sorts of nonsense.
"Millie, don't worry, okay? I'll check up on him every few hours, we'll give him some snacks and stuff too." Caleb kept trying to reassure her, she was always too worried.
Deep down, he knew she cared about him a lot.
There was a small pause between the two, Caleb looked over at the shed seeing as gaten was trying to show Finn how to turn on the small tv they had. Instead of pressing a button, Finn squeezed the remote, almost breaking it in the process.
Gaten rolled his eyes and ran a hand down his face, knowing this was gonna be hard.
"Hey Caleb?" Millie suddenly blurts, Caleb turns back to her in curiosity. He waited for her to go on, wanting to know what she was asking.
"Do you mind if I stay over with him for a night or two? I know you've probably got a lot of things going on-" she was abruptly cut off by Caleb, he shook his head and held up his hand, motioning for her to just stop.
"Of course I don't mind. Besides, I think he could use some company. Tomorrow afternoon, I got to go run some errands, having you here would probably be best." He smiles warmly at her, she just smiles back too, thinking how much of a caring friend he was.
She was lucky to have a good friend in her life.
"Thanks Kay."
"No problem."
Suddenly, gaten opens the shed door loudly, he appears outside, waving his hands to get their attention. They jump at the noise, turning his way.
"Guys! I'm going home, can someone please explain to him how to work the tv remote? I mean, he's really taking it hard that he can't even work it." Gaten yells in an irritant tone, from the shed, stopping in his tracks to look up at them before leaving out the back gate.
Millie and Caleb laugh, shaking their heads at his nonsense.
"Okay, I guess I'll see you guys tomorrow morning? There's extra blankets and stuff in there too, my parents are only here in the mornings so you guys got this all to yourselves." He continues.
"Thanks again."
"Anytime, night." Caleb says and turns on his heads, walking in through the back doors.
Millie says goodnight and walks to the shed, leaves crunching under each step. The sun was about to set already and she was exhausted from the day. Her eyes were heavy as she opens the door, revealing the small space.
The shed was perfect, it had candle lit lights and a nice, cozy living room. There was also a small twin bed in the corner. Everything was a little crowded altogether but it worked.
"Hey." She whispers, seeing as Finn was sitting on the couch looking at her. He seemed a little tense or scared, no smiles were on his face.
She walks in slowly and closes the door behind her, waking over to him.
He watches her every move carefully, his brown eyes gazing at her intensely as she seats herself next to him. The couch shifts so their weights are being pulled towards one another.
"It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you." She mumbles, their eyes meeting.
Finn looks away for a short, brief moment. He felt ashamed with himself.
"I know." He answers quietly, looking down at his lap. Millie's eyes lit up at the sound of his voice.
"Don't treat me like...like a- a pet, okay?" He continues, looking up at her now. Their eyes connected under the dimly lit room, a few candles and a plug in lamp being the only source of light as the sun started to disappear behind the trees.
Millie furrows her eyebrows at his words, she didn't mean to treat him like a pet. She thought he was a fragile boy, someone sensitive and misunderstood.
She was wrong, he was not as fragile as he seemed. She knows nothing about him yet she's willing to just pick him up on the side of the street and take him under shelter.
"I didn't know you felt that way." She mutters, avoiding his eyes.
He still kept his gaze on her, "You- you don't even know me, why are you...acting like...you do?"
The question had got to her quickly, she was placed on the spot as thoughts just circled her mind. She didn't even know the answer to the question herself.
Then she sighs, "I don't know."
Suddenly, he lifts his hand and puts it in front of her, like a handshake.
A wave of confusion hits her like a brick, she furrows her eyebrows and looks up at him curiously. A small smile creeping onto her face.
"What's this?" She asks innocently, looking down at his offered hand.
He shrugs, a smug smirk coming onto his face.
"Hi, my name is Finn Wolfhard. I'm, I think- 17 and I like you. You're pretty and cool." He states, his eyes never leaving hers. His words had caused her to blush, her cheeks fading into a dark cherry red, along with her ears.
She giggles, taking his hand that conveniently fit into hers perfectly, shaking his hand.
"I'm Millie Bobby Brown, nice to meet you. I think you're pretty and cool too."
They both chuckled, thinking whatever they were doing was stupid and probably meaningless. Finn notices the red on her cheeks and brings his pointer finger up, poking her cheek gently.
She giggles and her cheeks turn an even darker red, if that was even possible.
Suddenly, as if it was here to ruin the moment, a loud crash of thunder is heard. Rain starts to pour drastically, causing Finn to flinch.
He jumps at the sound, his hear escalates in beats rather quickly.
"It's okay, it's just lightning." Millie says, looking over at him, the candles flicker as the plugged in lamp suddenly starts to go out.
She quickly grabs the cotton knit blanket that laid over the couch and wrapped it around Finn, holding him close. He sighed into her arms, feeling safe.
"You remind me of someone." Finn says softly, snuggling into her shoulder as they laid on the couch.
Millie lightly chuckled, curious as to who she reminded him of.
"Who?"
"Mama."
