I plop down at my desk with a heavy sigh. It's been another month since the late night dinner. When she came back to work she brought a new energy along with her. It's been refreshing.
For everyone but me. Her energy is exhausting my emotions.
Along with her newfound excitement about life, she's wanted to hang out with her 'best friend' every single night. With me. Every night for the last month. Calling me her best friend.
I couldn't be in a worse position.
I sigh again and this time it draws attention from my two friends around me. Ho-jun leans over, waving a hand in front of my dazed face. "Yo, Park. You good, dude?"
I shake my head. "I can't do it anymore," I say quietly.
"Do...do what, Jimin?"
"Be around her. I can't be around her and keep pretending like she's nothing to me." I lower my face into my hands. "She's driving me crazy. Every time I'm with her I just...I want to cry I can't do it anymore."
"Oh, Y/n," Jung-mo breaths in understanding. He reaches out and pats me on the shoulder.
"I need to do something," I conclude. "I need to be away from her, move on or something. At least until she's ready to move on."
Jung-mo sucks in a sharp breath. "I don't know about that."
"Whats wrong with it?" Ho-jun asks. "I think it's great. Have some fun and then, when she's ready, go into a serious relationship."
"You're an asshole," Jung-mo states flatly. "That could hurt someone's feelings. Not to mention, Jimin isn't a 'nothing relationship' kind of guy. He has really strong emotions. He could end up getting hurt too."
"I think I'm too hung up on her," I confess. "I think I really should go on a few dates. For my sanity. Who knows? Maybe I'll find someone better than her."
Ho-jun taps the black screen of my tablet. "If you want to give it a try, my cousin has been asking for me to set her up on some blind dates. You want to give it a go? To kickstart this dating thing?"
I hesitate. "I don't think I'm a blind date kind of guy," I tell him.
"But Jimin, it's perfect. She just wants a fling. If the date goes well, you've got someone to just waste time with and if it doesn't, there's no harm done."
"I don't know..."
"Just give it a try. To build your confidence."
"I have a lot of confidence," I say defensively. "Just not when Y/n is in the picture. Everything is so much harder when she's around."
"Literally," Jung-mo says, still in his same flat tone.
"You're gross," I say.
"Ignore Jung-mo," Ho-jun tells me. "Just one blind date, Jimin."
I run my hand through my hair. "Is she cute?"
.
"Jimin!"
Dread fills my heart and I hesitate to turn around, to face her. However, I can't bring myself to ignore her, especially when her hand touches my shoulder. I want to shake her away, to move on without thinking about her. But I face her, listening to what she has to say.
