Chapter 8: The portals return

CLEMENTINE P.O.V

With all the commotion going on I barely noticed another man run out of the woods and carry me out of there. Who was he? I didnt have time to look. All I could see were trees and darkness. Then I looked over the man's shoulder. I saw Bigby running full speed towards me.

"MMHMM!" I tried to say Bigby. The man looked back but as soon as he did he was tackled to the ground and he threw me in the air. I landed with a thud on the hard dirt. I shook my head and quickly stood up. I looked at the man who was underneath Bigby. Oh my god... was it true?

"MMMMHH!?" I screamed. No use. Bigby was beating him up. I had to do something but I was rendered useless with my hands being tied behind my back and my mouth taped. I rubbed my mouth against the bark of a tree. The tape came off within 5 seconds. I Ran over to the commotion so they could hear me.

"BIGBY! GET OFF OF KENNY!!!" I screamed as loud as I could. My heart was racing. Bigby punched him one last time and then halted. He looked up with an angered expression.

"You know this man?" He asked.

"Yes. He was with me when I was little... I thought he was dead." A tear ran down my face... I was so happy to see him.

"Hey... Clem." Kenny struggled.

"Can you please get off of him so I can hug him?" I smiled, crying. Bigby got off of Kenny with a grunt. He then helped Kenny up.

"Heh thanks." Kenny said sarcastically. He brushed himself off and then looked at me.

"Oh. Just look at ya. All grown up since last I saw." He said smiling. There were a tears in his eyes. I smiled more and ran up to him. I hugged him the best I could with my hands still bind behind me. My tears became frequent. But I couldn't help it. I was so happy. :')

BIGBY P.O.V

I got up and brushed myself off. Clementine got up and hugged the stranger. But something was wrong. Quickly, he grabbed his gun and shot at me.

"Get the Hell away from Clem!" He yelled at me.

I finally figured out what was wrong with him.

"Clementine! get the Hell away from him! Hes not the Kenny guy that you know!"

He scowled as his face melted off. Clementine screamed in terror as the thing grabbed me by the throat and started choking me.

JOEL P.O.V

"Sarah?"

I brushed her hair away from her face.

"Daddy? Did I get hurt?" She asked.

"No, no. You're just fine. Here, daddy's gonna bring you home. And then we'll figure out what to do next. You're gonna be fine just you wait."

LEE P.O.V

I heard the booming noise before I saw the portal.

"IT'S BACK?" I said in shock. I felt the familiar sucking noise and it pulled me closer. But this time Ellie was coming too.

"Thats the thing that took Joel!" she yelled. And the portal opened wider and it was sucking us up.

Ellie screamed as she was lifted off the ground. I felt the feeling of weightlessness and I floated in the pool of blue water. But it wasn't wet. And I could still breath. I looked over at Ellie. Her arm was coated with white. She relaxed, and the water went away and I fell.

JODIE P.O.V

After breakfast we went into Snow's office. It was a huge room with thousands of books in the front. There were a couple desks in the middle. Snow walked over to what I assumed was her desk. She pulled out a couple files from the bottom drawer. Then she walked over to the huge bookshelves in the front. She pulled out a book called 'Portals: Doors to your dreams' heh funny name. She opened the book to the bookmarked page. She read:

"Portals, as you may know them, actually appear more than you think... They appear about every 20 years or so. They suck people in and take them to their dreams. The victims may not know it, but the Portals are actually solving their problems.... but not all the time. Some people may be reunited with loved ones they have lost, or they may achieve their greatest dreams, or they may finally realize what's most important. Others may not be as lucky.Some people may encounter their greatest fear, or one of their loved ones die, or just don't get anything at all. Anyway it all depends on what the Portal senses in the victim." Snow finished reading. She was shaking.... What does this mean? All of a sudden a loud booming noise shook the room. We knew exactly what is was.

ELLIE P.O.V

If this is the thing that took Joel... will I see him again? I felt the sensational feeling of freefall. Then I hit the ground. I landed on my broken arm.

"Gah!" I yelped as I sat up. I was dizzy. I held my head until the dizziness stopped. I was in the middle of a field. Lee was to my right and laying on the ground. I looked around some more. There were other people on the ground. Then I looked up. The sky was a dark grey and it was thundering. More portals appeared in the sky. Then more people fell. From where I was I could make out a man with a girl, another man and girl, and two women.... I think. I stood up and brushed myself off with my one good hand. I looked over at Lee who was clutching his forehead. I then helped him up.

"Thanks." Lee mumbled.

"Were are we?" I asked him. He looked at me with a worried expression, but he said nothing.

"Theres more people. I saw them fall out of portals too." I said. He looked shocked. I started looking around at the people frantically. I looked too but it was too foggy to make them out.

"You... wanna go look around?" I asked taking a step.

"No... wait... they might be dangerous. Lets wait to see who takes the first move." Lee said holding an arm out to stop me.
