Chapter 12: The water

JOEL P.O.V

The first thing that hit me was the cold. And then the sinking feeling. I surfaced and put my backpack on top of the ice. Then I dived back under. I could see nobody, but then I saw Sarah. I had finally taught Ellie to swim, but I didn't for Sarah. I swam down farther, and pulled her up. I surfaced gasping for air, with her gasping herself. I pushed her up on the ice. And then I went back down to look for anyone else.I saw lee, but he was in another hole, holding Clementine, and the other woman, was up in a hole too. But now I saw Ellie. She was being held down. By bigby, his mouth snatching at her leg. I surfaced to get air, then dived to get Ellie. I kicked at Bigby's head, stunning him for a couple seconds. And he let go, I pulled Ellie out of his grasp and brought her unconscious body to the surface. I hopped up over the edge, pulling Ellie with me.

CLEMENTINE P.O.V

Bigby was struggling with himself again. I was about to say something when I heard the ice crack.

"No one, move." Lee said. We were all frozen in place. The cracking continued. I closed my eyes waiting for the freezing water. Within 2 seconds I fell in. I opened my eyes under water and tried to make out the drowning faces around me. I saw Lee, Ellie, Bigby, and the three other people. Then I remembered I couldn't breath. I struggled underwater, regretting that I hadn't taken a final breath, instead I exhaled when I whent down. I tried to move my arms but I couldn't because of my wounds. I couldn't move them too fast, it just hurt too much. I let out a strangling gasp. I sunk deeper into the darkness of the water. I became dizzy. I saw Lee reach out for me. He grabbed me and pulled me up out of the freezing water. When we were out of the water Lee took my arms and wrapped them in new bandages since the old ones came off in the water. He then took me and held my firmly in his arms, desperate to get me warm again.

SARAH P.O.V

I didn't take a breath until my dad resurfaced. I was so dizzy from lacking air, I laid down on the ice. I shivered. Then I heard something. It was the sound of thousands of bubbles hitting the ice, cracking, and expelling the ice everywhere. I flew into the air, and hit the water back first. I felt a sharp pain in my leg, as the wolf-thing's jaw clamped around it. It thrashed me about, and then flung me into its mouth. I got sucked down into the beasts belly, hitting with a splash. The water stung my body where it got touched by it. Then I realized this was stomach acid. I screamed. Then I saw the thing, the Tara species. The Tara beckoned me to come closer as I did. She led me into a beautiful prairie, but I knew I was just imagining this and my body was floating in the pool down there, but it felt nice to relax.

ELLIE P.O.V

We fell in the freezing water. Joel had finally taught be to swim, but I wasn't pro. I remembered, move your right arm, then your... your left. Oh crap! My left arm was broken! I started kicking my legs frantically and trying to swim with one arm. Then I felt a sharp pain in my right leg. I looked down. Bigby had a grasp on my leg. When I tried to shake him off, his teeth just sunk deeper into my flesh. I let out a yelp of pain. Then I saw Joel. He kicked Bigby in the head. He let go but quickly regained grasp on my leg. Joel took my hands and pulled me up. Bigby gave up and went for someone else. When I resurfaced I gasped for air. I was freezing. I looked around. I saw another woman, Joel to my right but he dived back in, and Lee holding Clementine in his arms. Then all of a sudden, a huge force pushed against the ice and the ice cracked into a million pieces sending everyone into the air, and back into the freezing water. When I hit the frozen water once again I panicked because now I could only swim with one arm, and one leg. I looked around for help but only saw Bigby swallow Sarah whole. My eyes widened. I tried harder to swim upwards but I couldnt. Then someone grabbed me and pulled me back to the surface once again. But it wasn't Joel. It was that woman who stabbed Bigby. But... he swallowed her....
