"M-my father's mark."

"What?" I had stopped crying at that point, but to see the fear in my mother's eyes almost made me want to break down again.

"You have my father's mark!" My own father burst into the room.

"Sunrise, calm down."

"She has my FATHER'S MARK!" I stared at them as my mother screams and cries, while my father tries to calm her down. But it escalated, until he started screaming too. They had never done this before, they had never fought, well at least not in front of me. I stood up, shaking.

"N-no. S-stop." I was so quiet, you could barely hear me. "Stop it. Stop yelling! BE QUIET!" A strong breeze pushed them away from each other, while a rock wall appears between them. "Don't fight. P-please."

My parents look at me in fear while the room started glowing brightly.

"Luna! Stop!" Then the world turned black again.
~~~
I woke up in my room.
"J-just a dream. Right?" I stared down at my hand. Yin yang. It was still there, it was still haunting me.
I heard someone outside my room.
"Hello?" I hear their walking stop, but they quickly start heading towards my room.
A maid walked into the room, her eyes widened when she saw my hair. Her own hair was brown. Her eyes were noticeably blue, which was something that only water mages had, but she looked human for the most part. I had never seen her before. I looked down at her hand, no mark. Wish I was like her.
"Uh... Princess, the King and Queen have requested your presence in the throne room once you woke up."
"Um, thank you. Are you a new maid?" I give a weak smile.
"Um, yes. My name is Chelsy Lockett." She smiles, which was the best thing I had seen all day.
"Well, thank you, Chelsy Lockett. Now, I have to go talk to my parents."
~~~
"Mother."

"Daughter."

"So, will you tell me about this "special" mark of mine?" She sighs, she had obviously been crying for a long time.

"Y-yes." She sits up from her throne. "Let's go for a walk."
~~~
I hadn't been out of the castle for months. But they were mostly diplomatic missions. It hadn't occurred to me how little I had seen of my own kingdom. I would have to change that soon.
I heard some screaming behind me that snapped me out of my thoughts.
I turn to see a darkness mage being thrown onto the ground by some light mages. They start charging up an attack, one that could probably knock out the darkness mage.
"Your family should've never come here. We don't want darkness scum like you!" I didn't get why they were so angry at him. He was just a darkness mage, what was wrong with that? So, I run over and kick one of them.
"Stop your magic and leave him alone!"
"Says who?" They turn around and their expression was basically, 'We done messed up'.
"Says Princess Luna. Now I advise you leave him before the guards come."
"Um yes your highness. We're very sorry, um congrats for reaching your thirteenth birthday!"
"Don't let me catch you doing that again, or you'll regret it." They quickly leave and I hear them whispering.
"Didn't she have blonde hair?"
"Beats me, let's just go." The darkness mage gets up and walks to me.
"Thank you Princess. I'm Thanatos."
"Luna! Come over here! Ignore him." I sigh.
"Nice to meet you, I hope to see you again." I walk over to my mother.
"So, my mark?" She takes a deep breath and looks at me sadly.
"As you already know, you have my father's mark."
"Yes? And who is he?"
"Your grandfather is Lucifer."
"WHAT THE H-" People around us stare, but I didn't care much. "THAT'S MY GRANDFATHER?"
"Yes, now calm down." She clamps my mouth shut
"B-but my grandmother defeated him. How? Why? Dear Etheria why?"
"I said, shush. Now do you want to hear everything or not?" I slowly nod.
"Good, then listen." She leads me back into the castle walls, but not inside the castle itself. On the other side was a meadow. I had been there a million times.
"Why here?"
"The last princess here was friends with my father. Princess Sun." I laugh softly
"Sun? Wow, her parents must've been really uncreative with that." My mother raises an eyebrow. "Uh, continue."
"My parents and the princess used to play here all the time. But... he got jealous, I suppose. Or... wronged. She gave him a phoenix, maybe a few clothes, nothing more. They were dirt poor." She narrowed her eyebrows. "We were dirt poor."
Mages lived up to 200 years. At the moment, my mother was only 110. But the fact that she could remember anything from when she was 10 (or younger) is a miracle... or something very terrible.
"By the time my parents were married, he had mastery over his magic."
"What is it? What is our magic?" She takes a deep breath
"Everything. He had everything. Every branch, every element." My eyes widen, but I don't say anything.
"By the time they were married, by the time they had me... he had so much resentment. So much pain. He cast away his morals and killed the ruling families. He gained his army, he gained his power. He just never stopped, the bloodlust consumed him." She wipes away a tear that threatened to fall and looks back at me. "And she killed him, killing herself in the process. And they just crowned me queen because of it. All they knew was my mother..."
"I have... everything." I look at my hands like they were the source of my power. They weren't, but I just felt... no different.
"You do, but don't think for a second that I'm letting you learn any other element."
"What?" I turn to look at her, she didn't seem like she was kidding.
"And you are not leaving this castle again. Not until the day I'm dead."
"You can't do that! Mother!" She doesn't turn around, rather she spouts out wings, her second magic being shape-shifting. She flies away, leaving me alone.
I crumble to the ground. Today really was the worst day of my life.
