The person was moving closer and closer. Is he stalking me now?

He stopped running when he got to me.

“Sie da!” (Hey there!) He said slightly out of breath.

“I don’t speak German and I shouldn’t be talking to strangers.” I said shortly turning my head away and going back to leaning against the railing.

“I just said hey...” The boy said as he leaned against the railing next to me.

“I’m Alexander, and you are?” He said outstretching his hand at me.

I stared at him, but I looked away before answering, “I’m Jamie.” Why couldn’t this kid just leave me alone. He and his weird accent.

“You don’t look so hot.” Alexander stated.

“Excuse me?” I said staring at him in confusion.

“I meant that you look like you’re cold.” He stuttered in his accent.

He stripped out of his grey sweater and handed it to me. I stared at him in more confusion. What is up with this kid.

“Here take this, I’ll live without it.” He said smiling.

“N-no thanks.” I mumbled.

“Oh come on, just take it.” He pushed it to me. I hold it in my hand and he nods. I decide to put it on after few seconds of thinking.

“See it fits you better than me. Wunderbar.” (wonderful) The boy said playfully poking me with his elbow. The sweater was very warm and soft, it made me feel like I’m being cuddled by 100 kittens.

“Is this your first time in Berlin? Are you enjoying it?” He questioned. But before I could answer I was interrupted by a phone going off.

“Hold that thought.” Alexander said before answering his phone.

“Hallo babe.”

Probably his girlfriend, I thought.

“Was? Jetzt? Okay, ich werde da sein.” (What? Now? Okay, I’ll be there.) I stared at the German speaking boy, his quiff had flattened out and now flowing in the wind. Got to admit the boy knew how to dress. He had a striped shirt on that was a little too big for him and the skinniest possible jeans ever with dark brownish boots.

“Ordnung, liebe dich. Bis bald.” (Alright, love you, See you.) Alexander said to the phone before putting it back to his pocket.

“Sorry I need to go, my boyfriend needs me. Hopefully we’ll see each other again. Bye.” He said before running off. Boyfriend? He’s gay? Oh… I didn’t see that one coming.

Then I realized I was still wearing his sweater. I tried to yell after him but he was already too far.

I slide down to the ground, my back against the railing, snuggled up in the sweater that the weird boy gave me.

The morning came soon and I woke up in the same clothes as yesterday, even the sweater was still on. Yesterday flooded back in to my mind. Why couldn’t I stop thinking about him? Why was I so interested in him?

I shook the thoughts out of my head and stroked my fingers through my hair. I pulled the sweater off and threw it on the floor. I walked to the lounge with no sight of my parents. There was a note with money on the table and it said,

Your father and I went out, here’s some money for you so go out and buy whatever you like. Love mom and dad.

They just left me? Alrighty then. I stuffed the money in the pocket of my jeans and went to find a new shirt to wear. I dug the first shirt out of my bag I could find. I took my phone and walked out to the hot summer day. And believe me when I say hot, I meant it. I was probably going to melt.
