Jenna's inner thoughts

"What's wrong with this scene?" Michael asked bewildered, tipping his sunglasses forward as if the colour difference was going to make the men in black uniforms seem different. There were two armed guards at the entrance of the gate and a few more roaming the vast garden as we drove up to the front door.

"I'll explain everything, I promise." There was too much to explain in the short distance we had to drive to the front door and I couldn't bombard him with all of it now. He looked confused and frustrated when I answered him but right now it's for the best.

Michael parked the car and I watch Candice practically fall out of the taxi. She can't be drunk, can she? I strain my eyes as the sun hits me full in the face. I'm pretty sure the cabby is screaming at her to get her own luggage out of the back and I can just imagine what this poor guy went through bringing her here.

Irritated, I somehow know that she probably didn't have any money on her either to pay for her ride. What happened to my sister? This is not who I grew up with. I know some part of her new behavior is due to her patient dying but this is just way overboard.

Michael grabs my hand as I get out of the car and I immediately calm down . I feel my heart tug at this kind gesture as I realise that he understood me in that moment. I nod at him, walk over to the taxi, pay the cabby and watch Michael help Candice with her luggage.

"Oh wow, aren't you lovely." Candice is squeezing Michael's huge arms and licking her lips as she does it. Good lord has she no shame. "Absolutely lovely. You single?" she asks and I cringe as Michael looks up at me and grins.

"Candice!" I yell at her but she doesn't hear me. "Oh for fucks sake!!" I say under my breath and the cabby gives me a sympathetic look.

I can't believe that Michael finds this funny, it's not though. Well sort of. Okay it is. Watching her grip Michael while desperately trying to hold herself upright against the taxi is somewhat funny.

"Candice!" I yell again but louder and this time she looks at me with her bloodshot eyes. "Whaaaat?" she sings and I shake my head in disbelief as I walk toward them. "Watch yourself okay. Are you drunk?" I ask her but from where I'm standing and the smell that's radiating from her, it sounded like a stupid question as soon as it left my mouth.

"Maybe" she replied hiccupping. She did not just hiccup! I look at Michael and he still has this stupid grin on his face.

"What? You don't find this funny?" he asks gesturing at Candice with his head. I can't say anything, actually I don't know what to say so I just shake my head.

I turn my attention back to Candice and take her from Michael. "Fuck Candy. Today?" I can feel Michael watching us as we 'try' and walk to the front door. I look back and he is snickering like a school girl.

"Stop!" I mouth at him through my teeth, knitting my eyebrows together to make me seem a little more serious. I'm not but I'm hoping he thinks so.

"No" he mouths back shaking his head and this time his laugh is guttural. He even bent backwards holding his stomach as he laughed. I guess I didn't look that serious or it could be because of Candice. Why is Candice walking so slowly? I pick up the pace and she sways, gripping my waist tighter. I wince at the pain of her nails digging into my side.

"Hello James" I stutter greeting uncle Steven's butler and he gives the usual nod, "Miss Jenna, Miss Candice".

"Candy, not so tight. Let go a little." I say in short breaths and Candice relaxes her grip when we reach the front door.
