"How about we go to the beach house this weekend. We could leave later tonight, if you want to." Michael asked bringing Jenna's hand to his lips, kissing it lightly.
"I would love to but I have to check on Candice." she replied. Her voice low, huffing as she spoke.
Candice was still staying at Steven Marks's house and it was getting too much for her. The security team that surrounded her were constantly checking on her.
"Would you like me to go with you?" he asked.
"No. I think that we need some alone time. She won't be herself if you're there." she replied. The texts that Candice have been sending Jenna were abrupt and if she read between the lines, Candice was lonely.
"Okay. Call me if you need me."
"You can drive me there if you're not busy." she asked and was hoping that he would say yes.
"Yes of course. Do you want to leave now?" Jenna smiled at Michael.
"After my shower. I also need to stop at the store. There are some things that I need to get first." she called as she walked to the bedroom. Michael followed her.
"Like what?"
"Just some snacks. Candice likes to nibble and I was hoping that it would make her feel better. Everything Ricky did took its toll on her. It's been hard for her, you know."
"Actually, I don't know. What did he do to her?" he asked as he watched her undress to take a shower.
"Michael, I'm not comfortable with this conversation." Jenna walked to the bathroom and he followed her again. Watching her sway.
"You have to speak to me Jenna. It's what people do in a relationship." She turned around and before she could answer him he cut her off.
"You need to get in the shower. Now."
"Why? I thought that you wanted to talk?"
"You're also naked!"
"Oh." she giggled and stepped into the shower.
"Have you ever loved someone so much that you couldn't picture yourself without that person?" she asked loudly over the sound of the water running from the shower.
Michael's thoughts
If she only knew how true that statement is. I would do anything for Jenna.
"Yes I do actually" I say honestly.
"Well that was what it was like between the two of them. You know Candice and Ricky." Is she seriously defending Ricky right now?
"Are you serious? He burnt down her house with her in it!" My voice louder than what it should be. I really need to control that.
"No I'm not defending him. I think it's fucked up what he did but I want to know how that came about." Why would she want to know? I would never go to that kind of lengths to keep Jenna.
"What came about?" I press on. I have to see where this is going.
"The love that he felt and maybe still feels for her." Really? That's not love. It's obsession and there is a very big difference.
"Okay but why would you think that what they had was love?" I hope she is not going to say what I think.
"From what I've read in books, when you love someone, then nothing else matters. No one else matters. Consequences don't matter" Yep, I knew she was going there.
