Michael was one of three children. He had an older brother and a sister. His father was a Professor in Mathematics and worked for NASA and his mother was a Professor of English Literature, his brother Mark, a Pediatrician. His sister Penelope was a socialite and a functioning alcoholic.

Michael and his siblings never grew up with their parents, instead nannies and boarding schools became family. During school holidays, the Jensen children would meet up at the summer house in Istanbul where their nannies and caretakers would entertain them. Now and then, their parents would surprise them with the presence.

Michael formed a deep bond with Penelope and he adored her and over the years they tried to see each other whenever they were in the same city or country. Michael and Mark always had a strained relationship from childhood but over the years the relationship became manageable for Michael.

Mark was the straight and narrow child and every chance he got he made Michael aware that he was saving lives in the present instead of reliving the past in ancient times. "Oh shut up Mark, you're such an asshole", Penelope would always come to Michael's defense.

At 42, Mark was involved in a car accident that left his hands shaking. The hospital had no choice but to cancel all surgeries. Mark left the hospital he worked for and took up the position of lecturer at the University Michael was a Dean of in the department of Health.

When Michael was 13 he was expelled from the second boarding school within a year and his parents had had enough. His mum and dad had roped in every favor they had to finally get him accepted into the prestigious Ludlum Academy for the Gifted.

What they did not foresee was that the Ludlum Academy for the Gifted is where he found his true self and ended up staying for the rest of his schooling. He had met his match in the form of Mrs Sofia Angela Delport.

Mrs Sofia Angela Delport was a heavy set, dark in complexion, woman in her late 50's but at the time of meeting Michael, she was a young twenty seven year old administration assistant for the Head Master of the school.

Michael was a naturally curious and a destructive child and since he could get away with anything because of his parents, he took it upon himself to torment others. One freezing morning, Michael turned off the heat in Mrs Delport's office by cutting the wires in the thermostat. She caught him red-handed, grabbed him by the neck and dragged him to one of the chairs in her office.

She returned to the door and locked it. Michael jumped up from the chair and was about to walk to the door when Sofia turned her head slowly to face him. Michael sat down immediately with a thud. Sofia walked back to her desk keeping her narrowed eyes on Michael.

Sitting behind her desk, her eyes narrowed further resting her chin on her hands. She glared at Michael. "Okay baby, you see that bookshelf, I want you take those books off, dust the shelf and repack it in alphabetical order." She decided that she was going to guide instead of punish.

"You can't do that, I'm a student and you're just a worker. I'm going to call my parents and have you fired." Michael screamed at her. Mrs Sofia stood up towering over Michael, "Now you listen to me you little shit, I have boys of my own and I will whip the spit out your mouth. You're here because your parents don't want to look after you, no one wants you." Sofia knew that saying this would either make a difference or it was war.

"What did you say to me? Do you know who my father is?" he screamed at her.

"Do you?" she screamed back. Michael looked confused at her comeback mostly due to the fact that he wasn't expecting it.

"You can't speak to me that way you dumb bitch. I pay your salary".

Sofia laughed at this little boy who was trying so hard to be a bad ass. She stepped from behind her desk making Michael jumped from his chair. He gulped as he stepped back causing him to trip over the rug sending him crashing down butt first onto the floor.
