You mask your vulnerability with flirts and dumb jokes just to make us feel some kind of comfort and relief, I know that even if you think no one has noticed. Everyone in the group chat thinks you do it because you're insensitive or cruel, but I know that deep down you aren't. You're the girl you beat her father unconscious because he was being abusive at home, even though her own mother left her to die 2 years ago. You're the girl who nearly burned down a bakery because she witnessed the owner refuse to make a wedding cake to a happily engaged, lesbian couple. And lastly, you're the girl who graffitied Christopher Park because she finally learned what it meant to have hope in a world she believed had the biggest grudge against her. When my mother found you, she was absolutely determined to free this delinquent named Maya Hart, and I had no idea why she would ever risk her career in order to do that. But now, I do.
