A long time had gone by since I had last seen Nick. I sometimes wondered where he was or what he had been doing since I left. I wondered if he felt angry with me for leaving him without saying anything. I felt terrible about it because I did love him. I didn't know if I still had those feelings but I couldn't go back. Not after what I did.

I had been on the ballet mission for so long that it felt natural. I had gotten a lot of information on the crime syndicate which meant that I was going to be leaving soon. Kenny was sending a retraction team for me within the day. I didn't know who was going to be sent after me but I hoped that it wasn't Nick. Knowing how things usually went for me, it was probably going to Nick.

I carried my bag into the ballet room and set it against the wall. I started warming up with the other girls. I watched the instructors, who were the leader of the crime syndicate. I knew some agents were coming for me and it would become messy. As I watched, I stretched and talked with the others around me. I had gotten close to a few of the women there. I felt bad for leaving them in the wake of an attack but it was necessary.

It wasn't too long before two men in suits walked in. I recognized them as Nick and Coulson. They scanned the room and nodded at me. I gave them a small nod and went back to practice a fouetté, a simple move I liked a lot. I kept an eye on Nick and Coulson as I moved. They talked with the leader before the man raised his gun. Nick knocked it out the way and shut him in the chest.

As Nick and Coulson started fighting with the main guy, I started helping the other women out of the room. I made sure they were all safe before I grabbed my bag, looking back at Coulson and Nick.

Coulson came after me, grabbing my arm as he pulled me out. "Come on. Nick has it from here. We need you out of here before it goes more south."

"This is a mission gone wrong for you?" I asked as we ran down the hall. "You haven't seen shit then."

"I'll leave the bad ones up to you," Coulson shot back. "Hurry up."

I picked up my pace and was out running Coulson in no time. When we got outside, I hurriedly took off my slippers. Coulson got ahead of me in those seconds and I followed him to the car. Nick came out in right after us and dashed for the car. I swung the back door open for him and he dove in as the other criminals came out. They started shooting at us as Coulson drove off.

I leaned back in my seat and looked at the others. "So, how was your day so far?"

They both chuckled.

"It's nice to see you again, Tessa," Nick said. "It's been a bit."

I dug around in my bag for my shoes. "Yeah, it has. We still need that drink."

"You two were close?" Coulson asked.

I pulled out my shoes and started putting them on. "More than you know. Let's get out of here though. I don't feel like getting shot."

The car sped up as Coulson said, "Yes, ma'am."

I leaned back in my seat and put my feet up on the dashboard. We drove for a long time before I fell asleep. I slept for what only felt like a few minutes before I was woken up. I moaned softly and opened my eyes.

Nick came into view and smiled at me. "Good morning, sunshine. We made it to a hotel."

I nodded and got out. "What time is it?"

"Close to one-thirty," Fury replied. "Coulson's already inside getting us a room."

"We have to share a room with him?" I asked. "I thought we'd get some alone time."

Nick squeezed my side. "Soon enough, Tess. I'll get your bag. I'll meet you inside."

I left Nick at the car and found Coulson in the hotel. He handed me a card and told me the room number. I headed up to the room, finding two beds. I laid down on one and sighed. The guys came in a few minutes later and Nick tossed my bag on the ground.

"So what are we going to do now?" Coulson asked.

"Sleep," Nick suggested. "It's late and we have a long day of traveling ahead of us."

I sat up. "I'll get changed first."

I grabbed some clothes before heading into the bathroom. I changed and let my hair down. It had grown out in the past few months and I hated it. I definitely needed a haircut, especially after the last mission. I finished and left the bathroom. I laid down on my bed as the other two guys got ready for bed.

I had already crawled into bed when Nick got into bed with me. When he got settled in, I cuddled up against him. He wrapped an arm around me and kissed my forehead. I smiled a little, tapping my fingers against his chest.

"I missed you," Nick murmured, "but I hate you didn't tell me where you went. I thought you were dead."

"I guess it was a surprise when you found out I wasn't dead," I replied. "We'll talk about this later. It's too late."

Nick brushed my hair away from my face. "I'm not letting this die while we'll asleep."

"I know but put it to rest while we are too," I said.

Sighing, Nick did what I said and I fell asleep quickly, knowing it might go south later on. I sure hoped I didn't lose Nick though. He was too special to me.
