After I looked around, I returned to the cockpit. I leaned against Fury's chair and looked out the window.

Fury reached back and grabbed my leg. "Hey, sweetheart. How are you?"

"I'm doing alright," I asked. "What about you, boo?"

"Decent despite everything that has happened," Fury replied. "I'm glad you're here with me."

"Are you two together?" Vers asked. "It seems like you're a couple."

I played with Fury's limited hair. "We're figuring that out."

"You're cute together," Vers complimented. "Where did you guys meet?"

"An assignment," Fury replied, looking at me with a stern look. "A highly secretive assignment."

"Oh, secret operations," Vers said. "What's it like working for the government?"

"Tiring," I replied. "I get sent all over the place. Mister over here gets to sit at a desk all the time. I get all the dirty work done."

"Isn't it always us that have to do it?" Vers asked.

I smiled and looked at Fury, who had his eyebrow raised. I kissed his cheek and turned my attention to the window. The vast sky rolled out in front of us.

"How much longer?" I asked.

"A few hours," Vers replied. "It shouldn't be much farther."

We waited around for the remainder of the trip. When we arrived in Louisana, Vers found a spot to land where Maria Rambeau was. Vers left first and went to the shop alone as I waited nearby with Fury. A few minutes later, Vers crossed the yard with a woman and a young child. Fury and I followed close by.

We all sat in the kitchen with drinks, listening to Vers tell her story. It was interesting to hear the whole thing and to finally know that I was right to say aliens existed.

"That's the craziest shit I've ever heard," Maria said.

"Green transforming aliens?" Monica asked. "There's no such thing."

"You are absolutely right, young lady, there is no such thing," Fury said, turning to give Vers a stern look. "Because if there were, we'd want to keep that a secret."

Vers backed up. "You don't believe me?"

She placed a hand on a tea kettle and her hand started glowing, the kettle beginning to squeal. Fascinated, I stared at her hand.

Monica stood up and got closer, a fascinated and curious look on her face. "No way. That's so cool."

"She can do a lot more than make tea with those hands," I said, smiling at the small child.

"Like what?" Monica asked. "Show us."

"Maybe later," Vers said.

"I kept all your stuff," Monica said suddenly. "I'll go get it."

Seeing a private moment for Vers and Maria, I grabbed Fury's arm. "Why don't we go help her?"

Fury nodded and followed me, his drink in his hand. We found Monica standing at a dining table with a box full of stuff.

"What's all this, Mo?" I asked

Monica looked at me with a smile. "It's all of Auntie Carol's stuff that we kept. I didn't believe that she died so I kept it. I wanted something to remember her by."

I picked up an old picture of Carol, Monica, and Maria. "This stuff is really cool. It was a good idea for keeping it."

She shifted through the pile. "I know. I knew she'd come back."
