I walked into the main room of the helicarrier, stepping up to the computers Nick usually stood at. I tapped at them, looking through the screens. Maria came up beside me and watched what I was doing.

"Fury wants agents to check out the recent criminal activity in Berlin," Maria said. "Who are you going to send?"

"Coulson and his crew," I replied.

"Do you want me to notify Fury?" Maria asked.

I smiled at her. "Yes, please. I would appreciate it. Thank you, Maria."

She smiled back. "You're welcome, Tessa."

"Welcome back, Miyamoto!" Nick greeted from behind me. "You didn't tell me you would be back so soon."

I turned around and smiled widely. "I wanted to surprise you, dearest."

Nick smiled as he joined my side, placing his hand on my hip. "Of course, Tess. Meet me in my office later. We have some things to discuss."

I checked some of the screens. "Hopefully no bad things."

"No, not at all," Nick said. "Do you have to say anything, Maria?"

"Coulson and co. are being sent to Berlin to check things out," Maria replied. "Tessa gave that order."

Nick swiped through some taps. "Thank you, Tessa. I should promote you to director. That's everything for now, Maria."

She nodded and returned to her seat.

"Why is she sending people out?" A new voice asked. "She's not the director."

I looked over and placed a hand on my hip as my eyes landed on Steve Rogers.

Nick squeezed my hip. "She is my right-hand woman, the one who calls the shots when I'm not around. She's been around SHIELD longer than you have and is the brains of most operations."

"I wouldn't say such things around a trained assassin, too," Tony Stark chimed in. "She's more dangerous and scarier than Natasha. She'll snap you in half."

As he spoke, I moved to stand in front of Steve. I was a good foot shorter than he was but I knew I could take him down. I stared him down as he gave me an equally as intimidating look.

"You don't scare me, old man," I said in a low tone. I turned on my heel. "I'll see you in your office, boo."

As I walked off, I could hear them asking if Nick and I were together. If only they knew. I went into Nick's office and sat in his chair. I smiled when I saw a picture of us on his desk. I picked it up and ran my thumb down the frame.

"I remember that day," Nick said from the doorway. "I took a month off for our honeymoon and made sure no one from work bothered me. I wanted to be completely cut off from SHIELD. You looked so beautiful in that dress that I couldn't believe my eyes."

I smiled, setting the picture down. "I think another vacation might do us some good. Work gets stressful sometimes."

Nick joined me at his desk and pulled me to my feet, pulling me close. "I can't. I have too much work to do. I'll lock the door and turn off the cameras in here tonight though. So we could have some alone time."

I smiled and tucked my fingers in his waistline. "I would love that. No one to bother us."

Nick leaned in closer. "I wouldn't mind that. I haven't touched my wife in weeks."

Smiling, I met him halfway and kissed him. He grabbed my waist gently as we slowly kissed. I pressed my body against him and squeezed his shoulders.
