Chapter 10 : Not exactly a warm welcome
~Sandra
Firefighters , wearing hazmat masks rush inside the school while pulling out every student that makes it to the entry door to safety. All I can hear is the dry coughing of people around me and the sirens of the ambulance that is currently loading students in.
I hope they're not dead.
I look around me to just see that everything is just chaos. People are coughing everywhere and some are actually rubbing their irritated eyes and before I knew it , another ambulance speeds in the gate and parks in front of the school.
"What the freaking hell" I hear Lucas mumble to himself as he is too witnessing what is happening. Luckily for me Lucas pulled me out of the school before something bad happened but my leg still hurts so now I'm balancing my whole body weight on one leg so that I don't stress it too much.
"What's going on ?" I nudge Lucas who seems very focused on the current scene. He stays quiet for a while before turning his head to face me.
"I-" He got interrupted by the gasping of the crowd when the paramedics were running out the door with a stretcher that was carrying Sierra. An oxygen mask was covering her mouth and she was barely moving.
I guess she didn't have enough time to escape.
She's unconscious but she doesn't have a single scratch or gash so I'm guessing she's going to be fine. I hope so. As soon as Principal Kennedy realises what's happening , he runs to his unconscious daughter, calling her name almost pleading her to wake up while the paramedics are trying to calm him down.
It's a painful scene to witness, I mean he is her father and as a parent you wouldn't want to see your child being put in the ambulance that's going to a hospital.
Grayson climbs in the vehicle that's carrying Sierra with Principal Kennedy. The ambulance speeds out the gate with flashing red lights and a loud siren. Another stretcher comes out , carrying a teacher.
People gasps again as the woman is being placed into the ambulance with a oxygen tank.
"Students of Reighton High , can I please have your attention ?" A firefighter says through a megaphone as he stands in front of us. We all turn our heads to face him.
He continues "As you all can see. A toxic gas has been leaked into your school and we , firefighter are trying to evacuate all of you to safety so your cooperation will be very appreciated.
"Our school is already filled with toxic gas. What's the worse that could happen ?" A person in the crowd yells
"Look kid we're-"
A loud piercing sound rings through our ears as the ground vibrates which interrupted the firefighter from talking. The smell of smoke that's spreading in the air, passes through our noses. I follow the smell to my right to see
SOMEONE BLEW UP THE BUS SHED
"WE'RE ALL GONERS!!!"
Everyone starts running around, screaming in panic while the firefighter guy tries to calm them down.
"Students , please calm yourselves" That didn't work. People are still running around , some are running to their cars while others are already speeding out of the school gate.
This leaves me with one question on my mind
How the heck am I going to get home ?
