Chapter 28 : Vacant
~Lucas
The heat has my sweat running like condensation off a icy glass, but I guess my hood doesn't help cool me off either. I clench my fist as I walk down the sidewalk, the pain stings my knuckles and radiates through my hands, I look down at my mangled knuckles which is obviously caked in dried blood, congealed and cracked.
"Man I gotta stop the wall", I mumble. I took out my anger on a building wall but I can't say I felt bad for it as I am the one dealing with the pain. I am calm now and I can think straight now. I come across that the familiar corner that I left Sandra at and previous memories come rushing back. I didn't mean anything I was just angry at the time so right now I'm coming up with an apology so she can forgive me and we can move on and find out how to change the tires. As I turn the corner I see nothing both Sandra and the car are gone. I rush to the place where I know I left the car. It's still not there, there is no hint of Sandra or the car anywhere.
"Shit", I mumbled. I can't lose this car, I can't lose this car. I can't lose mom's car. I yank my phone out of my pocket and try not to break it as I search for Sandra's numbers. I swear if she destroyed my car out of revenge I will...I don't no but I will make her pay. I send your power button again away for her as her phone rings. Fear seems to creep in as the rings last longer.
"The number you have dialed is unavailable. Please try again later" , the voicemail says. I end the call and press the call button again. It rings.
"The number you have dia-" , I end the call.
"FUCK!" ,I exclaim, I should've gave her up when I had the chance, she probably halfway across town, she probably laughing at my dumbass for letting her out of my sight. I stop and exhale deeply, a small part of me knows, Sandra would never do any of those things. She's too sweet for that, but I am pretty agitated right now and unfortunately she is the only target that I can take my frustration out on.
As I am about to call her again, a notification flashes on my phone. It doesn't say much it just gives me an address.

Rhodes's Mechanics. Its not far from here. I find myself rushing across the road to reach the other side. I end up walking past building while being observant of the signs on them. I stop as I see a large white board with 'Rhodes's Mechanics' in cursive red. I enter the gate and immediately notice the car parts scattered on the sides of the entryway. This is like a pet cemetery, but for cars.
The entryway leads me to an open garage and Tension eases as I see the Ford Fiesta in it, my Ford Fiesta. A man pushes himself out under the car and arises from the ground. He is a chubby man who is brown-haired and shaggy faced, he almost resembles a sheep he is wearing an oil splattered blue overall and holding a lug wrench. I step closer in the garage and I can see the car is lopsided as the hydraulic jack is attached under it. His dull brown eyes narrow into mine as if I'm trouble. I just roll my eyes look around to seek a Sandra, but she is still nowhere in sight. I see a doorway on the right side wall, it probably leads to another room maybe she's in there."What do want in my shop, sonny ?" He asks slightly hoarse.
I point to the Ford, "This is my car"
He chuckles and I raise my eyebrow in confusion, "Funny, I didn't see you bring it here"
"Yeah, but it's my car," I say nonchalantly.
He shakes his head with a smirk before yelling Sandra's name and like magic she emerges from the other room.
"Y'know this kid ?", The man asks and Sandra glances at me before nodding to the man.
