Chapter 32 : Conflicted
~Lucas
The morning before Sandra got kidnapped. This morning is seemingly going to start peacefully and quietly as nothing, but the soft sounds of snoring surrounds me.
That is until my phone rings.
The loud sound of chimes, threatening to wake me up. I groan feeling the need to get the noise away from me so I throw my arm over my face to block the ear that was nearest to the phone that is making the noise . Eventually it stops ringing and I feel myself in peace again.
It rings again, but this time my eyes opened. I mentally curse myself for not putting it on silent as I reach to grab it.
"What.", I answer.
"You need to bring your ass here now"
I sigh. Jordan.
"Why."
"My parlor was set ablaze "
"Who burned your shop ?"
"I don't know, everything is chaos here just get your ass here !"
"Cool your shi-", I stop myself knowing I just make him angrier so I sigh and answers , "I'll be there".
I end the call and slam it on the night stand. The sudden sound causes Sandra to stir, I freeze as her body presses closely to mine. I don't want her to wake up, she needs rest after what happened yesterday with me being an asshole and her mind not being in the right place. Her cries still haunt my head. I shake the thought away and once I see that she still asleep I slowly stick my leg out of the duvet I continue to awkwardly manoeuvre myself off of Sandra without waking her up eventually I place her carefully down and slide out of bed.
Slowly and reluctantly I rub of the remainder of sleep from my eyes and stretch my arms above my head to yawn. The day started terrible today, I'm guessing it's going to be worse from here on. I put on my black joggers, a white tank top, a zip up black hoodie and vans shoes that were shoved at the bottom of my bag. I spray deodorant and comb out my bed hair with my hand.
I finish off by grabbing the keys of the car along with my phone and begin to walk to the door, but I stop dead on my tracks I look behind to see Sandra moving in bed, the duvet sliding off her back leaving her upper body exposed. I am quick to move to her aid and pull the duvet to cover her up. Her skin brushes against my fingers, it weird how calm I can become when I touch her. Everything is not normal with her.
Like metal attracted to magnet I move my face close to her, her warm breath tickles my neck as I press my lips on her forehead and for a moment when my eyes closed it felt painful to do it.
