Chapter 23 : Triggers
~Sandra
"Mom, its not that bad. I mean its painful, but the tattoo is really pretty"
She sighs and I can imagine her pinching the bridge of her nose.
"As long as you're happy, but I swear if you get a piercing I'll disown you"
I laugh, "Ah mom I miss you"
"I'm serious, Sandra"
"I know...", I pause wondering if asking her would help. "Mom ?"
"Yes ?"
"I have a crush on someone...well I think I do,I'm not sure"
"Aw, San, you're becoming a teenager !" She exclaims.
"Mom this is freaking me out"
"Its okay all you need to do is just grab his shirt and pull him your lips and do your thing"
"I don't know how to kiss a guy"
"Plus that is too intimate, Cassi", Brandon's voice comes in.
"Wait, am I on speaker ?"
"Hey , Sandra" He says as if telling my mom I have a crush wasn't embbrassed enough,
"Hello"
"Don't listen to your mother she's crazy"
Yeah no kidding.
"Okay good bye to you sir", Brandon laughs at the end of the line.
Lucas opens the door and immediately sits on the driver.
"Okay mom I have to go"
"Oh... be safe, I love you"
"I love you too also goodbye, Brandon"
"Bye"
He says before I end the call and put my phone in one of the cup holders.
"We're going to party", He says
My smile falters, "A party ?" I've never been to a party. "Are we invited ?"
"No , but Jordan is going so we're going", He says as he starts the car.
"So where is this party ?".
"20 minute drive so... Longsville He says driving out of the town to the road that goes to the place I dread the most.
"We can't go...No no no we can't go" I grab the arm that is on the gear stick.
"No the party is on the rich side of Longsville so no criminal will be there, relax we'll be fine."
That's not what I'm scared about. The memories associated with that place is what terrifies me and I don't want to deal with them right now. Lucas remove his arm from mine and squeeze my hand before putting his hand on the steering wheel.
I send him a soft smile and rest my head on the window, watching every grass field pass by. Sooner or later we will get there and I haven't even got over the place yet.
After minutes of silent driving we finally get to Longsville and I swear the atmosphere got darker. We pass the vandalized broken window- building and unfortunately some people live there.
