"Now they're both late, I wouldn't have expected that from Sasuke" Sakura said as Tsunami placed our food on the table. I helped Faitā onto the seat beside me as Gādian scrambled up on the other side.
We bid our thank you's and were about to eat when the door slammed open and Sasuke and Naruto walked in. Sasuke had Naruto's arm over his shoulder as they helped, Sasuke more for Naruto, eachother to walk.
"What have you been up to? You look like something the cat dragged in" Tazuna said and I glared at him to which he held up his hands in mock surrender. Naruto looked up and grinned, "We both made it, we climbed all the way to the top" Naruto said and I smiled.
"Good, now we move on. Starting tomorrow you're both bodyguards for Tazuna" Kakashi said and Naruto smiled wildly, "Alright!" he yelled as he raised his fist in the air and lifted his one foot.
Because he now leaned all his weight on Sasuke, they both went toppling to the ground, "Ugh! You are such a loser!" Sasuke yelled at Naruto and we all burst out laughing.
I got up and quickly helped both the boys to their chairs, setting them carefully into their seats. I was slowly eating my share of the food when I looked up and saw Naruto trying to eat his. His hand was shaking so much he couldn't even get a forkful in because by the time it reached his mouth, everything would have fallen off.
I sighed, "Naruto, lean over" I told him and he did, curiosity shining in his eyes. I grabbed his plate and scooped up some food before holding it in front of his mouth, "Open up" I said and he blushed as he lowered his jaw.
I softly placed the fork in his mouth and he bit down on it, scraping it all off with his teeth before leaning a bit back and chewing thoughtfully. He was smiling whilst blushing a bright red as he stared at me.
I continued to feed him, oblivious to the glares that were sent to Naruto whilst he smirked at our sensei and Sasuke. I gave him the last bit of food before taking a napkin and softly wiped the corners of his mouth.
"In a few more days the bridge will be finished, I have you to thank for that" Tazuna said as his daughter started to pick up the plates. I quickly stood and helped her clean up, "We're not doing this just for you, we're now in this for everyone on this island" I said softly and he smiled gratefully up at me.
"You still got to be careful" Tsunami said and I smiled reassuringly up at her, "I've been meaning to ask you this, but I haven't had the chance until now... Why did you stay and protect me even after you found out I lied to bring you here?" Tazuna asked and I smiled at him.
"Those who stray off the path of justice have no courage" Kakashi began and I quickly interrupted, "But under the wing of a strong leader, cowardess cannot survive" I finished and Kakashi stared up at me with surprise.
I gave him a wink and he turned his gaze to the table in front of him. "Huh?" Tsunami asked and I laughed lightly, "That was a quote from the first Hokage" Kakashi answered and I turned my gaze to Inari who was staring at the surface of the wooden table.
His gaze then turned to Naruto who was laying his head on his arms on the table, completely exhausted. It wasn't soon after that Inari started to cry, "But why?" he asked and Naruto lifted his head, "What you say?" he asked and Inari slammed his hands in the table, "All this stupid training is just a waste of time! Gato's got a whole army and they'll beat you down and destroy you! These cool things you all say don't mean anything! No matter what you do, the strong always win and the weak always lose!" he said and everything turned quiet.
Naruto layed his head back down, "Just speak for yourself, it won't be like that for me you got that?" Naruto said, "Why don't you just be quiet! Just looking at you makes me sick! You don't know anything about this country, you're just budding in! Always laughing and playing around... you don't know what it's like to suffer and be treated like dirt" he shouted and it was the last sentence that made me snap.
