Chapter 3

We ended the meeting with Derrick and went back to our office. I walked in Raven's office and closed the door.

"Bitch that man is fine as hell." Amber said fanning herself.

"And is sis. It took everything in me not to jump on his ass in the meeting."

They both laughed and Amber sat in front of her.

"So I got a call from mother dearest before our meeting." Amber said.

"And what did her snobby ass have to say?" Raven said folding her arms across her chest.

"Well of coarse you know she said our "little" business was not gonna last and that we should have went with them."

"Wow so they still don't believe in us?"

"Don't look like that. We are gonna make this happen. And without their help. I don't care what they think. We got this." Amber said.

"I know and I don't care about that either. And Anika and Brenda are coming too.

"Ah shit. This is about to be interesting.

"Right. Let's close up here and get home." Amber said walking to the door.

As they locked up they walked to the truck and headed home. The drive was quiet but relaxing. As they pulled up Amber's phone rings.

"Hello this is Amber how can I help you?" She said professionally.

"Hello daughter how are you?" Keith said.

"Hey daddy how are you doing?" Amber said trying to sound happy that he called.

"I would be more happier if you was on my team. But that's not why I called you."

"And why did you call? Is something wrong daddy?"

"Nothing is wrong baby calm down. I was just calling to tell you instead of coming Thursday we will be there tomorrow morning."

"Wait why? That will be fine for you guys to come Thursday night."

"Well I'm coming tomorrow and nothing you say or do will change my mind. Now make sure your house is in order for us to come. Brenda and Anika will be there as well."

I took a deep breath before I said something out the way. "Daddy this is ridiculous. I don't.."

I got cut off by my father and he got a little stern when he said this.

"Don't you take that damn tone with me. I said I was coming and that's final. Now have me ready to come in and relax tomorrow or we will have a bad connection."

He hung the phone up in my face.
I looked at Raven with a look on my face.

"What? What did he say? Raven asked waiting for Amber to answer.

"Daddy is coming tomorrow instead of Thursday. And he said we better have the house together for all of them to come."

"No fucking way man. I can't stand this family. We are grown they can get a motel or something. I'm sorry but they can't stay with us. And I'll call and tell him that my damn self."

"Raven don't make things worse than they already are. Let's just clean the house up so we can have it ready for them."

"I said hell to the no. I refuse to be done like this. We are not children anymore. We are adults and we demand respect from them. If we keep allowing them to do us this way we want win respect." Raven said.

"I get that Raven and I'm all for respect. But I don't want to argue with them before our big day."

Raven opened the door and slammed the door. She walked to the door and unlocked the door. Turning the alarm off she walked in and grab her a bottle and poured her a glass.

As she drunk the glass of liquor she sat on the sofa and put her hand on her head. She inhale and then exhale. Amber walked in and sat next to her.

"What are you thinking sis? I see it all over your face." Amber said rubbing her sister's back.

"Amber when are you gonna learn? We are not controlled by him or mama. We have to stand up for ourselves and be women. If we let them continue this we will never get the respect from them."

"I know and I get it. But don't you get tired of the arguing and the sideways treatments?" Amber asked her.

"I do but I feel the only way we will get that from them is to stand up to them. Point blank. And they are not staying here and that's final." Raven said getting off the couch walking upstairs.

Amber watched her go upstairs and sighed. She sat there for a second and called Anika. The phone rung a few times and she finally answered.

"What is it Amber?" She said as she answered the phone.

"Damn no hello how are you or nothing before you start this shit?" Amber said sarcastically.

"Look you called me not the other way around. Like I said what do you want?" Anika said aggravated.

"Well I ain't gonna hold you since it sounds like I'm getting on your fucking nerves. All I wanted to say is y'all can't stay at my house. Find somewhere else to go." Amber said sternly.

"And who said that? I know it wasn't you. Must have been Raven. Cause you a punk at stuff like this. And far as I'm concerned we are staying there."

"Well you can think that but you not. Y'all so stuck up find your own place to stay and I mean that." Amber pushed.

"My my my. Well look at the little Amber trying to grow some damn balls. I got to give it to you. You sound a little grown but you still ain't. See you tomorrow at your place." Anika said hanging the phone up in her face.

Amber screamed as she hung her phone up. "I can't believe that bitch." Amber yelled.

Raven came running down the stairs. "What's going on? I heard you scream?"

"Nothing. I just see what you mean now. And I agree they can't stay here and we are gonna I enforce that." Amber said standing.

"Damn right sis. I got your back. Come on let's gets some rest cause we are gonna truly need it tomorrow." Raven said.
