Morals! Don't you just love controversial subjects?

Not everyone has the same morals. Sure, humans have a general idea of what "morals are". Like, it's not okay to murder someone. But, of course, there are exceptions to everything so it's no wonder that there are people who exist that think murder is morally acceptable.

I think deep down we all have a certain sense of "right and wrong" regardless of what we've been taught growing up. Like for me, I was taught that getting tattoos and smoking and drinking is "wrong" but then I know people who are totally okay with it so in their eyes, all of those things are morally acceptable.

No matter what anyone else says, you have your own standards and morals. You shouldn't let other people's opinions influence the way you think. If you do, it's not really your opinion, is it? It's a collaboration of everyone else's. Standing strong in your beliefs and morals really does make you your own person. For example, if you really liked strawberries, and you believed they were the best fruit ever, and someone came along and listed off all of the reasons why peaches are the best fruit, would you suddenly like peaches more? Would you forget that strawberries are the best?

Like that, if you believe that abortion is okay, and I came along and told you every reason why it isn't (which I would, but not today), you might see the point in some of the things I say, but at the end of the day I won't really change your mind (it happens, but usually with stuff like that it's hard to convince people). That's not a super solid analogy, but you get the idea. Your morals and opinions are yours, and it's hard to change them.

Let's list off some morals that all humans generally have.

1. Be honest

2. Do what makes you happy

3. Don't harm others (there are a lot of people who would disagree but for the general sane population this is one of them)

4. Modesty (We have different morals for modesty, but it all works the same way and it's still morals)

I honestly don't know how else to generalize morals beyond that. Feel free to add. But just remember that you have standards. Whether they are low or high is up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Standards are sort of different than morals. Google says:

Morals-

a lesson, especially one concerning what is right or prudent, that can be derived from a story, a piece of information, or an experience."the moral of this story was that one must see the beauty in what one has"synonyms:lesson, message, meaning, significance, signification, import, point, precept, teaching"the moral of the story"

a person's standards of behavior or beliefs concerning what is and is not acceptable for them to do."the corruption of public morals"synonyms:moral code, code of ethics, moral standards, moral values, principles, principles of right and wrong, rules of conduct, standards/principles of behavior, standards, morality, sense of morality, scruples, ideals"he has no morals and cannot be trusted"

Standards-

a level of quality or attainment."their restaurant offers a high standard of service"synonyms:quality, level, grade, degree, worth, caliber, merit, excellence"the standard of work is very good"an idea or thing used as a measure, norm, or model in comparative evaluations."the wages are low by today's standards"

A lot of people, including myself, use the words morals and standards interchangeably.

I seriously have no idea how else to elaborate on this. I've been working on this update for literally four days. Not because I don't have time, but because I have no idea how else to explain morals. So there you go.

What to Take Away From This: Morals are yours, so stay strong. Different people have different opinions and just because you believe something doesn't mean that the general population does too. Sam has no idea what she's doing.

Thanks for reading, hope your day doesn't suck! -Sam

Sorry for the short update, I've also been kinda busy what with regular classes starting back up again. I'll try to write as much as I can in my free time. Usually, I have chapters stocked up to update on a sort-of schedule, but I caught up to my backups so I'm having to type from scratch now. I'll try to work harder on the next chapter! Thank you for being patient!
