"oh my god! not again!"

"im so sorry, i just had to call back because im sure i recognized your voice."

"what are you on? you are literally a stranger to me! you're not even programmed in my phone!"

"put carla under this number"

"im—i—i beg your pardon? what did you say your name was?"

"carla, why?"

"i—i just got— i just knew someone by that name. it been a long time since i heard that name."

"oh thats ok, jordan"

"what?! who are you? how do you know my name?"

"remember when you used to butt dial me?"

"carla"

"did you 'butt-dial' me on purpose?"

"haha no. that just so happened to be by accident, that i called the number belonging to you. and then i heard your voice and i couldn't be too sure, so i called you again, and called you by your name and kind of confirmed my suspicions."

"so...how are you? its been, what? seven years since i've talked to you?"

"im good, i went to school for biochem and business, instead of environmental science, like i had told you."

"god. can you believe we were only 16/17 when we calling each other?"

"i know. so what have you been up to?"

"i ended up getting a degree in journalism. i moved to toronto, and work for a daily paper now."

"oh."

"yea. wait, if i remember correctly, we stopped talking because of a guy, larry?"

"luke. um we actually stopped talking because you were falling for me, and i wanted to be friends"

"oh. its all coming back to me."

"so, are you and luke still together?"

"um we both went to schools in Boston, and our relationship became more of a routine? in basic terms, we both fell out of love."

"oh. im sorry."

"why are you sorry about luke?"

"i—im actually sorry that we stopped being friends. i think we were both young and inexperienced. I know for a fact, i was dumb and i dont know. but im sorry that we left our relationship, and im sorry if i caused you pain."

"im sorry too. actually in the aftermath, i found that on some level, i did love you. i just wasn't like you said, experienced enough. or even mature enough. we were just impulsive and rash teenagers."

"unfortunately. hey maybe we can be friends again? or i mean i'm in canada but i'd like to take you on a date."

"i'm in chicago right now. but i'm sure we can make something work."

"well its a good thing i have a car and i know how to drive. i remember you said something about loving the beach all those years ago. wanna go?"

"sure! you just tell me the date and time. but i have to go, jordan. there are meetings calling my name. it was really nice talking to you again, ill call later on, ok?"

"ok, carla. talk to you later."

"bye jord"
