Summer
Tonight was the night. The night of my first homecoming and excited was an understatement for my dad and Ty. They had us at 8 o'clock this morning and the plan was for us to do a whole bunch of running around.
When we first got up this morning, they had breakfast made for us, but we only had about 5 minutes to eat before they were in our face telling us all the shit we had to do. I could've sworn we were going to homecoming and not prom. Shit, imagine how they'll act for our prom. We'll be getting ready for prom five days before the actual night.
Our day we filled up until tonight. We had to go get our hair done, our hands and feet done, we had to go get our eyelashes done, and we had to go find some shoes for Sy'aire all before 7:30 tonight.
As of right now, we were on our way to get our hair done by Teedy Cha at her house.
"Can I get my hair dyed?" I leaned to the front seat and looked in between my dad and Ty.
"Yes, but not today. That's going to take too long, maybe tomorrow." Ty answered first.
"No, the fuck she can't. What you need to dye your hair for?" Dad looked back at me.
"It's cute," I said quietly because I didn't know what else to say.
"You don't have to be like that. They're growing up, let her dye her hair August." Ty jumped in. "You can dye your hair Summer."
"Maybe that shit would've worked under your roof, but not here." He looked at Ty before looking back at the road. "I said No and that's the final answer. You not doing shit until you get a little bit older."
I looked at Ty who rolled her eyes and I knew she wanted to say more, but didn't. I just sat back for the rest of the ride and nobody else said anything.
About 7 minutes later, we pulled up to Cha's house and we all got out and was still quiet.
"I didn't mean to start something between you and August." I whispered to Ty as he rang the doorbell.
"It's not your fault Summer." She sighed. "He didn't have to say it how he said it, but he's right I can't allow you to do something since you're no longer in my custody."
"No, you have to stand your ground, you better treat his ass and tell him like 'you got me so fucked up, talking to me like I'm some kid.' Show him you tough." I nudged her arm.
"Girl shut up and let it go, I'll handle it." She laughed at me.
We walked inside the house and dad was telling Cha how he just wanted her to press and curl our hair.
"Whose first?" Teedy asked.
"You wanna go first?" Sy and I said at the same time.
"I'll go." Sy said.
"I ain't expect ta' see y'all until around six or somethin'."Cha laughed.
"Naw they got otha' things ta' do so we came here first." Dad sat down on the couch next to Ty, who still hasn't said a word since we got here.
"How ya' been Ty?"
"I've been alright girl, how about you?"
"Good as I can be. Ya' know I've been trying to open up my shop out here."
"Don't you got one in NOLA, too?"
"Yeah, I'm trying to expand my business?" She smiled.
"Okay, I see you girl."
"How's the shop doing down there?" Dad asked.
"It's going great. I got a good crew and great clientele."
