I wake up to a rose-colored sunrise and sprinklers.

Soaked, I crawl away from Lee's porch—

Crying until I wonder if there will be anything left.

My mother rolls down my window to kiss my cheek.

I don't know what happened between you and Lee,

But I need you to come home now.

I watch my mother call a tow truck, and one hour later,

I am back in my house staring at the stars.

I trace my hand over the daisy tattoo on my forearm—

Another reminder.

My mother knocks on my door.

She lies down next to me.

I know you are going through something difficult right now,

For that, I am sorry, but it is not the end of the world.

Whatever rift you caused between Lee and yourself,

You can fix it.

Another promise.

I snuggle into her embrace.

I don't think it's reparable.

Tell me?

I slam a pillow over my eyes.

You want to know?

Yes.

I start from the beginning.
