I meet Jorge at the gym.
Everything hurts right now.
I find him shooting hoops.
He turns around with a grin.
It drops as he sees my expression.
I don't want to talk about it right now.
I want to be—I want to be with you.
I tug on the collar of his shirt.
He pulls away and scrubs his face.
You are so unaware.
I pause; he can't be—can he?
I grab his arm and turn.
To see such anguish.
I scream, "You can't!"
But I do; I always have.
I run.
All the way to my bedroom—
With glow in the dark stars.
Twinkling like fallen dreams—
Of a forgotten land.
