With one last stroke on my keyboard,
I complete my rewritten assignment for Professor Dalton.
I'm going to title it Daydreamers, A Poem.
I think he will like my creative take on Hamlet's Ophelia.
Her story has an air of mystery, or perhaps romantic longing—
That fits such a Shakespearean tragedy.
I roll my shoulders and look up at the stars.
I like the real ones better.
Closing my computer, I say goodbye to my triad.
Lee rolls over on my bed and glares at me.
Girl check your phone.
My heart pounds at the Facebook announcement.
So, you are now officially dating Jorge?
She twirls a strand of golden hair around her finger and nods.
I force a smile and turn back to my screen—
Away from the land of fallen dreams.
