I walk into the Principal's office,
Her secretary points to the half-open door.
I knock twice.
"Come in," says Professor Dalton.
The Principal tells me to take a seat,
Professor Dalton flips over a document with a frown.
I don't know why I am here.
They share a look.
We found some abnormal themes—
In your latest writing assignment.
I am not allowed to accept it.
There are ideas and language that are inappropriate.
We've called your mother, and—
We decided not to suspend you, as long as you rewrite it.
I don't even argue; it's not worth the energy.
May I be excused?
The Principal pulls out a thick manila folder.
It appears security has caught you trespassing on school property;
You are failing your AP Biology class; and—
There are citations of inappropriate phone usage during class time.
Also, there is a rumor of a video you made.
It's circling on popular social media sites.
We will wait for your mother; there will be consequences—
Should your behavior continue to deteriorate.
