Lee pushes me up against the bathroom wall,
Kisses me like the world is about to end.
My fingers undo her braid as we battle;
For dominance.
I moan into her mouth.
The taste of mint and woman all consuming.
At the sound of the bathroom door opening,
I pull away.
Lee giggles, pinching my nipple
Before unlocking the door,
Leaving me with unresolved arousal.
I growl but follow her into the hallway.
She rocks her hips, and I get—
Lost in their sway.
A deep voice sneers.
Hello.
Johnny?
You and Lee are a thing now?
What?
Oh! You don't know.
I pull him aside.
What don't I know?
He laughs.
You know you almost had everyone fooled, even me.
I shake him, and he smacks my hand away.
Is this about prom?
Stop lying!
We all got your video.
I feel the pressure of a thousand stares and run.
What's going on?
Everyone knows!
I frantically look around.
The video!
I run my fingers through my hair.
Lee grabs my wrists.
You have no idea what this is going to cost us.
They will mock us at school,
At church, our parents will be shunned.
Hell, they may even send us to therapy.
They will never accept us—this!
She points at the two of us.
We can fight.
Remember?
Nothing worthwhile comes easy.
