It's almost quarter to six and instead of being at home where you do your homework or play with your pet hamster, you're still at school doing a task that was supposed to be your friend's but wasn't able to do it so here you are, doing it for her.
You groan, all weary and drained. You just wanted to go home and feel the soft touch of your bed. You finally finished the heavy task of your friend's.
You buried your head in your arms as the relaxing melodius sound of the rain softly hitting the window soothes your stress little by little. Staying in that position for a little while, you sighed and decided to go home.
You turned off the school computer, cleaned up the mess you made in the library, put the books back into its respective shelves, and took your bag and exited the library.
At this time, there are no teachers and students around. Unless there is an event coming up, several student officials and teachers would still be here. But today is just like any other school day.
As you walk the dark empty halls and endured the deafening silence around you, you only think about playing with your pet hamster and get cozy with your bed once you get home.
As you walk down the ramp to the second floor, the dark halls made you realise that the darkness was never that scary. You were never scared of the dark, even when you were a kid. Instead of hiding in your blanket to protect yourself from the dark when your mom turns off the light, you still went to your toys and played with them because there might be good monsters who wants to play with you.
So going to dark places was never been a problem to you. You walked down the dark ramp while you listen to the melodious sound of the rain. You were about to take another step when you saw something move on the shadows.
You paused.
The idea of being comfortable in the dark is in the edge of disappearing, you clench your fist in fear as you wish that what you saw a second ago is not real.
You paused in your spot, waiting for anything to move on the shadows so you could run for your life. You didn't realised that you have been holding your breath.
Fully convinced that you're seeing things, you sighed of relief. It's nothing. You thought.
Sike.
A shadow moved and you swore to yourself you saw it in your own eyes. Taken by fear, you muttered a curse word before running for your life. Instead of exiting the school and go home, you unexpectedly made a turn to the janitor's closet.
You slammed the door shut and sighed of relief. At least you're now safe from the moving shadow. But that relief instantly turned into disgust when the icky smell of the cleaning equipment made an entrance to your nostrils.
You covered your nose and sighed. When am I gonna get out of this school?
You rested your back at the wall as you cross your arms, finding any way to get the heck out of the school and go home.
Well... the exit is just 2 distances away. All you should do is run and you're finally going home. You won't be able to encounter that moving shadow anymore.
You stared at the doorknob.
I just have to run and then, I can finally go home. I can do this. You said to yourself. Taking a deep breath, your hands slowly hold the doorknob, taking every ounce of courage and bravery to get outside the foul smelling janitor's closet.
You gripped the doorknob, ready to open the door and go home.
I can do this.
