The final bell of school rang and I let out a sigh of relief, today seemed to go by extremely slow. I pulled my slouch backpack on top of my shoulders and made my way down to the detention room. Two days of detention didn't seem that bad, it's not as bad as having scars covering your arm.
I sat down in an empty sweet in the detention room, which was actually just my Spanish class. I kept one hand next to my ear, hiding my ear buds that are connected to my phone. I kept my mouth shut when my favorite song from Secondhand Serenade can on.
I thought about the kiss during lunch, Luke's eyes starring into my own. Just thinking about it made me forget about cutting, my bruised face, or even the nasty things people say to me. Luke is my amnesia. I thought to myself.
My phone buzzed to life with a text from Luke going over my screen. Hey, sorry you have detention. I'll be waiting outside the door for you.- Luke. I smiled and replied saying, Okay, 10 minutes left. See you then. :) The text was sent and I waited for 10 more minutes.

"Hey little Miss.Trouble Maker." Luke said to me as I walked out of the room. I punched him playfully, he whispered playfully and pecked me on the cheek. I blushed and wrapped our hands together.
"Sorry about us not being able to study today." I said picking at my hair.
"It's okay, you were just taking the blame for me." Luke said.
"But you weren't even talking!" I exclaimed. "It's not fair!" I pouted. We both blurted out laughing at what I had just said. I let out a final giggle and searched through my bag for my phone. I dug it out from the front pocket and checked my messages and calls. 5 calls from dad and 15 messages from dad.
"Let's go to my house." Luke suggested. I turned to him blank faced. I gulped and said, "Sure." We walked to his car and Kayal's voice rang through my head. He hurt me. I don't want it to happen to you. Flashing red lights flashed through my sight.
I got in the car and turned on the radio. The black leather seats were cold under my bum. The handles were clean and showed my reflection. We road in silence except for the quiet music.

"Home sweet, home." Luke mumbled. He got out first and made his way to the front door. "Are you going to get out?" He asked. I hesitantly opened the door and stumbled up to Luke. He popped open the door and I stepped inside.
The shag carpet was tattered and dirty, the walls were sneered with with dirt and beer bottles. Luke rubbed the back of his neck and spat out, "That's from my dad. He's not going to be home for awhile." He strode up the stairs and into his room. His room was probably the only one in the house that was clean.
He sat on his messy made bed and cleared a spot for me. I sat down while he picked up his acoustic guitar. He plucked a few chords and stated at the walls. Posters from All Time Low, Pan!c At The Disco, Green Day, and Secondhand Serenade filled the room. "You like Secondhand Serenade?" I asked.
"Yeah. Done a few covers before the band became so popular. You like them too?"
"Yeah! They're one of my favorite bands, besides 5 Seconds Of Summer of course. Play a song from Secondhand Serenade." I suggested. He nodded and put his fingers in the position for the song, Fall For You. He played the first few chords and the lyrics came flooding into my mind.
"The best thing about tonight's is we're not fighting. It couldn't be that we have been this way before. I know you don't think that I was trying. I know you're wearing thin down to the core." I stopped and looked at Luke, his mouth hung open and he started from where I left off.
"But hold your breath. Because tonight will be the night that I will fall for. Over again. Don't make me change my mind." I sang.
"Or I won't live to see another day. I swear it's true. Because a girl like you is impossible to find. You're impossible to find." We sang in unison and then I gave a little giggle. Luke put his guitar away. Awkward silence filled the air around us.
"So.... that was awkward." Luke said aloud.
"Why? We were just singing a song. There's nothing awkward about that." I protested.
"You are a great singer Lauren." Luke said. My cheeks felt warm again and my heart did a thousand jumping jacks. I looked at Luke and he was tugging on his lip ring with his tongue. The black metal glinted in the mid day light.
"Thanks. You're great too." I said still looking at him.
A door swung open and shook the house. Luke's gaze sprung to his door. "You need to go. Now." Luke insisted.
"Okay." I got up and grabbed my stuff. Luke walked behind and should me a way to get out. He opened a window and I kissed goodbye. I swung myself out the window and landing the cold hard pavement. A burning pain spread through my legs and dots dances in my vision.
I ran home which was actually pretty close by. I turned around and Luke's house was just a sploch in the distance.
