~ 1 month before Malachi awoke, after he got into a car accident ~
Levin (Before Levin got the news about Malachi)
Liza and I decided to go out on a little date in a cafe, sitting outside and waiting for our drinks. She was happy being with me and I was happy knowing she was as well.
"Liza.." I started ask gulped, not wanting to ruin the mood. She tilted her head upwards to me look at me, as she was smiling from the selfies we had taken together.
"Yes?~" She answered happily as she turned her phone off and had her full attention on me.
I averted my eyes a little, afraid of what her answer might be.
"It's just-"
"Here are your drinks," Liam interrupted as he had a serious face, not his usual expression, as he handed out the drinks onto the table.
Before he could walk away after delivering our drinks, I stopped him. "Hey Liam, are you okay?" I asked him.
He turned to me and for a second, staring at me with a blank expression then suddenly, breaking into a smile that he usually would show. "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about me," he said as he adjusted his voice quietly. "Um, has Malachi spoke about me recently?"
I looked at him surprised at the question and he blushed a bit and turns away. From the corner of my eye, I could see a sad expression on his face.
What happened?..
"Lev?" Liza said my name as I turned to her, as she was drinking her Frappuccino.
"Hm?"
"What were you going to tell me?"
"Oh that.." I said and continued, as I scratched my neck a bit. "You know the situation with Y/N? Did you perhaps exaggerate it a bit? Did she actually-"
"Levin. Are you doubting me?" She asked with a serious face as she stopped drinking her drink. I looked at her and gulped.
"It's just.. Malachi came over and yelled at me about me trying to fix things with Y/N and-"
"Malachi doesn't like me. Of course he would not believe me," she interrupted again as she seemed annoyed. "I would never lie to you. She yelled at me and hit me. I even showed you."
"But..-"
"Look, I know she's your friend, I get it," she said as she reached for my hand across the table. "But I would never lie to you, I promise," she said with a smile and gave me a kiss on the lips.
My heart didn't flatter as it did before when we first met but I still smiled, wanting to believe in us even if just a little.
"Yeah.. Okay," I said and gulped, pulling my hand away from hers and reaching for my drink.
She went back on her phone so I did the same, opening my phone to home screen.
I stared at the background of the many apps I had, feeling my heartache when I yelled all those nasty words at her.
I could still see her face the last time I saw her. Terrified and frozen in place, like a statue.
I wanted to believe Liza but I also wanted to believe Y/N, whom I've been friends with for forever. I just wish, everything could work out perfectly. What does Malachi hate about Liza?
I could feel my throat starting to dry up and I reached for my drink again, wanting to get rid of that lump. I felt almost heartbroken.
I stared at the picture of the 5 of us, reuniting together after 5 years.
It's silly to think but, I do miss the band. When Mr. Whemgadi used to be our boss and people would come to our mini concerts to scream our names.
And well..

Suddenly, I got a phone call from mom and I looked at Liza. "Hey, my mom is calling. I'll be right back," I said as she just nodded. I got up and quickly made my way to a quiet area.
I answered the call and spoke first. "Hey mom. How are you doing?"
"Levin. This is urgent. Can you please come to the hospital?"
My heart started racing and I just was confused. "W-What do you mean? What happened?"
"Just please come. I'm sorry honey for whatever I'm interrupting you right now but, it's your brother. Something happened."
My eyes widened. "W-What happened..?"
"Honey, Malachi.." Mom started to tear up and I could hear dad comforting her.
"Levin?" Dad answered and I gulped.
"Dad?.."
"Levin, just please get down here. Don't ask questions right now."
"Okay. I'll be down there in 10 minutes," I answered. "Please hurry," is all he said as he ended the call.
