real life :

The voice that crackled through the other side of the line made a shiver run down Elijah's spine. He hadn't heard it in over thirteen years, "Mom?"

A small chuckle escaped the speaker of the grey phone, making the young adult swallow sharply.

He looked beside him, to find Levi standing behind him with a very confused look on his face. To him, this all didn't make any sense.

The brunet kneeled down to the blonds level, covering the speaker of the phone with his hand, "Can you get dad for me?"

Levi nodded hastily, darting out of the room.

"Why- why are you calling?" Elijah spoke up again, leaning against the kitchen counter. The thunderstorm of emotions only seemed to get wilder by the second, lightning bolts of memories and feelings breaking through his mind.

It was quiet for the smallest of moments, "I saw you on the internet, my own little boy.."

Said boy ran a hand through his hair in panic, not knowing what to do. In the thunderstorm however, one particular emotion seemed to fight itself to the front of the cloud; anger.

"Why are you calling?"

"I see you don't want to have some small talk with your mother.." She replied, a sigh cracking through the speaker of the phone, "I wanted to ask if you maybe wanted to meet up sometime?"

Before Elijah could reply, a very angry Robin entered the room, followed by Tom, who had a slightly confused look on his pale face.

Robin reached for the phone Elijah was holding, but he turned himself away, shielding the phone. He shot the oldest Beck a look of confirmation, letting him know that he could handle it.

"Why would I want to?" He simply asked, his breath as even as possible, "I haven't seen you since I was seven."

"You don't want to make time for your own mother?" The woman replied, offence lacing through her vowels, only aggravating the brunet more.

"You are not my mother!" He exclaimed loudly, knuckles turning white, "You may have given birth to me, but you will never be my mother. You left me. You left me and dad behind, without any explanation! You were just gone, and you expect me to forget all of that?"

From behind the talking brunet, a slight cringe appeared on Tom's face, as he never had heard this story. He had only told him about the fact that he had half siblings and a stepmother, but never explained the reason why.

"Give the phone to me," Robin growled lowly, putting his hand out. He was absolutely furious and every single feature on his face screamed it.

It took Elijah a while to react, but handed over the phone lowly, walking out of the kitchen and making his way over to the living room, quickly followed by Tom.

"What was that about?" He asked the moment they left the room, talking as quietly as possible to not let the young blondes know what was going on, "Are you okay?"

"Fine." The brunet replied curtly, not even turning around.

Tom grabbed a hold of the American's hand, forcing him to come to a halt and to turn around, squeezing his hand lightly, "Are you okay?"

The American nodded slowly before pushing a hand through his hair with his free hand, "Why can nothing ever be normal with me?"

The Brit chuckled, "Because like you said, you aren't normal."

Elijah tilted his head back, a groan escaping his lips, "Why did she have to call, why?"

"I don't know." He replied softly, still holding onto the hazel-eyed brunet's hand, "Why didn't you ever tell me about her?"

He shrugged, "I never thought it would be necessary. I mean, she isn't a part of my life, hasn't been for a long time."

Elijah felt a little weird. He thought he would have broken down by now, crying about the fact that somebody he resented for so long, decided to give him a call again. But surprisingly, he was fine. It felt good to tell her she wasn't his mom, to give her one last fuck you, before closing the door on her forever. He would never want to meet up with her, never.

Tom reached over and engulfed the brunet in a tight hug, "I'm sorry."

Elijah wrapped his arms around the Brit as well, before chuckling softly, "Stop apologising for the mess that is my life. It's not like you have anything to do with it."

"I don't care, I'm still sorry that these things have happened to you."

The two stood there for a moment, holding each other close, before being interrupted by a certain blonde.

"What's going on?"

Elijah leaned back from the hug, before eyeing his younger sister, "My mom called."

A deep frown grew present on the girl's face, understanding perfectly fine what the situation was, "What the- what did she want?"

"She wanted to meet up with me." Her older brother replied, shrugging hesitantly.

"Let me talk to her – I'll beat her up." She growled, already starting to make her way towards the kitchen.

Elijah managed to cut her off however, and lifted her up from the ground, throwing her over his shoulder, "Let's not do that."

"Let me go- she has no right!" Mallory exclaimed, wiggling around on the brunet's shoulder.

"Nope," Elijah replied, making his way towards the living room, but still managing to find Tom's hand again, holding onto it, "It's Christmas and I want to do something fun with my family."

As they entered the living room, Elijah got sight of Levi, who was sprawled onto the couch, watching some cartoons. He walked over to the large couch and dropped the young blonde onto it, before making place for himself and Tom, still holding his hand.

"Now," The brunet started, "I want a fun movie, because I'm not in the mood to cry tonight.."

Levi's eyes widened and he sat up straight from his previous starfish-position, "Can we watch Spider-Man?!"

A smile overtook both Tom's and Elijah's features, before the curled brunet nodded, "You want to watch Spider-Man with the one and only Spider-Man, huh?"

The boy nodded, making his way over before squirming himself between the two brunets, looking up at Tom with big eyes, "Only if Spider-Man wants it."

Tom nodded too, chuckling warmly, "Spider-Man would love to."

And so, Elijah popped in Spider-Man: Homecoming, which the family obviously owned on Blu-ray. During the first few minutes, the brunet could hear his father's muffled shouts through the phone ever so slightly, most likely telling the woman on the other side of the line to never call the number again. But not long after, Ava and Robin entered the living room as well, finding their places on the other side of the couch, next to Mallory, but not before Robin patted Elijah's shoulder, letting him know it's alright.

Everything seemed to be okay again in the Beck household. Elijah felt okay, he truly did.
