Ice woman, that’s what other people use to describe me. I talk softly but I’m tough, so tough and dangerous and sometimes kind. But most of the time, people misunderstood my kindness because I am so real. When I don’t like something I say it and I don’t care if I hurt somebody’s feeling or reputation as long as I know that I am doing the right thing. When I do like something, I keep quiet…

I am Guila Loveland, the President of New Invention Incorporated, a company which discovers people with extraordinary scientific talents and skills that define the future of technology.

Today I am going to meet an inventor who promised to present the futuristic program for our new mobile model. As I enter the conference room, not even one person can look me in the eyes. They seem so scared and afraid but I am used to the situation so I just ignore. I sit and it was so quiet then my assistant, Georgina talked, “The inventor is coming in a minute Ma’am.”

I looked at my watch and with my sunglasses on, I rolled my eyes. I waited for a minute but no inventor is coming in so I asked, “Where is he?”

“He’s…” Georgina tried to answer but then a man came in wearing a white polo shirt tucked in his tight red jeans.

“I am sorry everyone, I got into a huge traffic jam. Parade…” before he finishes his sentence I interrupted, “What’s your name?” I removed my glasses and looked at him with a poker face. He seemed shocked and wasn’t able to answer quickly. He paused for seconds then I asked again, “What’s your name?”

“Mark Winds Ma’am,” he bowed. “I am sorry Ma’am for making you wait.”

“Begin your presentation.”

He wiped off his sweat and nervously started his presentation. He talked non sense so I interrupted and flooded him with questions, “Boring, can you just tell the specifics? Do you have a sample of your invention? How can you assure us that you’re the real deal? How much will it cost? Is that realistic?”

“I’m sorry? Can you please repeat your questions? I wasn’t able to catch up because you asked so many…”

“I got no time to waste. Now if you don’t mind, I need to go. Just come back when you’re really ready.”

“But I am ready.”

“So where’s your sample?”

He wasn’t able to answer.

“Just go back tomorrow with the sample,” I concluded.

“But…” The man was trying to say something but I ignored him by picking up my phone and dialing up my mother. I quickly stood and rushed onto the door; I stopped and looked at him who wasn’t looking at me. I wore my sunglasses back and I rolled up my eyes and finally walked out.

While walking on my way to the elevator, I called Mom.

“How’s Dad?”

“He’s still angry.”

“Mom, you know my situation.”

“I understand you Guila but it’s your Dad’s birthday, how come you’re not here?”

“I am on my way Mom. Tell Dad that I am on my way.” While talking to Mom, I can overhear the voice of my Dad shouting, “Tell her to not come! I don’t have a daughter!”

Gosh, Dad is angry.

“Gila, I need to go, your Dad is going crazy.”

“Okay Mom, just tell him I am on my way.”
