CHAPTER 4: Enough! Past is past, just move on!

MARK’s POV

It’s been a week since I am working on the rainbow set of my mobile and at last they’re ready for presentation. But I admit, I cannot do it alone but I can assure you, I made the program all by myself. I’ve asked help from my best friend Gareth Burns. He modified the phone and I can say it has improved a lot. Thanks to him and because of that, I decided to bring him with me on my meeting tonight with the NIIC management. Anyway, Cassie will be home tomorrow.  Men, I am excited to surprise her for our first year anniversary.

GUILA’s POV

The inventor or Louis or Mark (I really can’t decide on how to address him), have arranged a meeting with me tonight but this time it will be held here in our conference room with the board of directors and the Vice President. I have high expectations at him and so I have arranged the meeting with the top management. Good luck to him tonight but I don’t know why, I feel nervous. I feel like there is something bad going to happen tonight. Okay, so I better say good luck to me.

THE NIGHT…

GUILA’s POV

I entered at the conference room and I saw the Vice President, Charlene giving me a devilish smile, weird huh.

The Chairman of the board, Mr. Samuel Chui and the members are already in their seats waiting for the inventor to come in. I gracefully took my seat and gave Charlene a sharp look.

After few minutes, he came in and I was not informed that he has company, my ex, Gareth Burns.

I was shocked of course.

“Good evening to all of you. Again I’m Mark Winds and I am with my co-creator, (he took a breath) … Gareth Burns.”

MARK’s POV

Gareth felt uneasy as I introduce him to the panel and so he asked me to go out first but I said no. He just can’t wait so he whispered on my ear, “She’s my ex.”

“Who?”

He did not answer.

“Who?” I mouthed. Gareth wide eyed me. “What is wrong with you?” I whispered.

“Can we please be part of your convo?” VP Charlene asked.

“Oh,” I panicked. I pushed Gareth away from me. I mouthed, “Be professional.”

He shook his head. He mouthed, “I will go.”

“No way!” My voice resonates in the four corner room.

“What’s wrong?” The Chairman of the Board asked.

“Oh sorry, nothing Sir. I will now proceed to the prese…”

“I will go,” Gareth mouthed at me with willingness to go home face.

“Gareth…” Charlene calls.

Beat.

“Yes Charlene?” Gareth forced a smile.

“You know each other?” I asked.

“Kinda but surely he knows the President. Why do you want to go?” she turns to Gareth.

“I, I just…”

“What?” Charlene waits for Gareth to talk.

“Don’t drag the story back again,” Guila interrupted.
