"How does a Crescent pack wolf find himself all the way here?"

" I should be asking you the same thing Alpha. "

The Cresent pack was miles away from here and I left years ago but tracking down its members through their scents was still something that I found fairly easy to do. Before Sayd walked away, I heard him call her his sister which I found strange because she was human.

"I'm here, for the same reason you are," he said. " But if I'm completely honest I didn't give a damn about that. What I care about is why you're with my sister."

I looked in the direction that Sayd was walking to my car. I couldn't help but admire her from afar. She was dressed simply today, but her natural curvy physique made her outfit look like it was worth millions. Her usually curly hair was straightened making it sway from side to side as she walked. I then recalled the feel of her skin against the tips of my fingers when I was giving her back her air pods. A gesture that I sought out to be innocent but sparked some feelings in me. I knew what I was doing was making it harder to stay away from her and it had to stop.

"No no no," Timothy said breaking the trans I was under. " Listen here Jake or Cage, whatever your name is. I know that look, now I don't care if you are her mate or if she can't resist being around the very air she breathes. Stay away from Sayd or else."

Before I could say anything he threw a tantrum pulling the wall.

" Bloody freaking hell," he raised his voice. " I travel a thousand miles and somehow still get entangled in your family's bullshit."

"I don't have any intention of pursuing anything with your sister. "

His reaction made me wonder what damage was done to him.

"Good," he took a step closer to me,"  Fourteen years ago, that narcissistic bastard you call your father took my entire family from me," he spoke with clenched teeth," and I couldn't do anything about it then. But now, if anyone dares threaten the safety of the family I have now, I will do anything and I mean anything to take them down. Got that? "

His warnings didn't make me fearful in the least bit. I knew he had every right to tell me to stay away from her considering he wanted her to be safe. But I genuinely hated being told what to do.

"Watch your tone," I said warning him also.

"Take that alpha act to somebody who gives a damn," he said. " As a matter of fact, I'll take her home, I don't care how stubborn she is. "

He walked past me, bumping into my shoulder and to the parking lot where my car was parked. Sayd got out of my car and stood against the door seeming confused to see Timothy walking toward her. I could hear the two argue back and forth and Sayd made occasional gestures at me, finally, Timothy grabbed my keys from her.

"Catch " he tossed my car keys in my direction.

He then grabbed Sayd's arm and dragged her along with him. As she followed him she looked back at me with furrowed eyebrows

I walked to my car and when I into the driver's seat I noticed there was a small gold necklace on the seat next to me. I looked outside my window to see if they hadn't gotten far so I could return it but she was nowhere in sight.

Shit. I thought as I carried it and put it in my pocket.

Before going home I made a few stops here and there to get a few things for myself. I didn't plan on giving back the necklace that very day, not because I wanted to keep it, but by the time I was done running all my errands it was very late at night.

As I was driving home, I couldn't help but feel that something or someone was watching me. At first, I thought it was Timothy making sure I didn't go back to his sister, but even he wouldn't have the time to watch me for that long. It's one of the things that wolves could do, we could sense when another wolf was nearby using their scents. But part of me didn't think this was a wolf because I couldn't smell them.

When I got home Sonny and Reid were the only two there.

"Hey," I said walking through the door.

"Hey man, " Reid said flicking through the channels on the tv. "We thought you wouldn't be coming home tonight. But you can have Graham's share of the takeout we order. "

"Thanks,"  I said.

Before going to sit with them I looked outside the door one more time.

"What's the matter?" Sonny said walking up behind me.

I didn't answer right away but I stayed quiet and listened.

"Nothing," I finally said. " I just feel like I'm being watched.  "

Reid also got up from his seat. "Whatever is watching you should be afraid of us," he commented and they all praised themselves.

Deciding not to brush it aside, I proceeded into the house. I sat in my living room with the guys watching TV and having conversation but I wasn't paying attention because all I could smell was her. Feeling frustrated I reached into my pocket and took out the necklace.

"Here," I said to Sonny," Could you hold on to that for me?"

"Okay," Sonny studied it for a bit. " Why?"

"It's not giving me a damn break. "
