the day passed by fast and it was already lunch time. sadie sat at a table which consisted of more people than usual.
today jack, finn, lilia, noah, and of course millie all sat at the same table with sadie. ever since sadie and millie snuck into finn and jack's room it sparked a friendship between the four.
although; sadie wasn't having the best day. though she took her meds on a daily basis they don't help as much as they used to. in fact; it's getting worse. being locked up in a mental hospital is depressing as it is.
she felt very sad today. she missed her parents, she missed her bed, her cat, even the tiny spider on her window sill that's she was scared to kill for months.
she tapped her fingers nails against the top of the table while everyone else finished their food. she drifted into a daze; a day dream. and stared off into space.
"why don't you leave your room anymore? what ever happened to spending time with caleb?" her mother asked, standing in the doorway of sadie's blue colored bed room.
"caleb and i ended things a while ago, mom." the redhead said back while bury her face in an other book.
"but you don't see any of your friends anymore?" she frowned.
"i don't want to talk about it okay? just leave me alone, please." she shot back at her mother with a slight attitude.
instead of disagreeing with her, her mom just left her daughters doorway and walked back to the kitchen.
tears started rolling down her face with the reminder of her so called "friends."
sadie felt a hand grab hers and she shakes the though away and turns to her left to see finn wolfhard.
"you're crying."
"i, i am?" sadie said in a quiet voice, she didn't even realize it.
finn let go of her hand but stood up motioning for her to follow. sadie joins him only because she didn't want the rest of the group to see her crying. though; they were deeply engaged in a conversation of either of finn or sadie's interests.
once they make it out of the cafeteria, finn begins walking sadie to her room.
"do you want to talk about it?" he asks, looking down at her since he's 5'10 and she's only 5'2.
sadie sniffled wiping the rest of her tears away with her hand."no, it's fine really. i'm just, sick of this place."
"i think we all get like that sometimes. but hey, it's not all bad. if you want i can take you to my favorite place." he smiled at the thought.
sadie hesitated; mostly because well; she doesn't know him very well. for all she knows he could try to kill her or something.
would she really mind though?
"sure, yeah. show me." she stopped crying at this point. finn showed her to an a big brown door that was surprisingly unlocked. the door led to stairs going up. the stairs were dark and they look like they haven't been used in forever.
sadie followed finn into the strange place he was yet to tell her all about. after two flights of stairs they came across an other door.
the lock was broken on the door and sadie took a mental note that it was probably finn who broke it.
the tall boy opened the door to reveal a blinding light.
sunlight.
as sadie's eyes were adjusting she stepped onto the roof of the building.
the first time being outside in days; she took in the fresh air. she smiled. she couldn't help but smile. she could see everything; from the blue cloud filled sky to the gray buildings from a far traveling all across the city. she walked closer to the edge to see the cars driving around. they look like ants at this distance. she could also see the many people walking on foot to their destinations.
"its beautiful." she stated, still looking out at the scenery.
"yeah; i'm come here a lot. helps me get my mind off things. since well; therapy doesn't really help because i hate opening up to people, getting close to them if that makes sense." the girl turned around to look at him.
"i understand what you mean. i don't like getting close to people either." she rested in empathy. he sat down on the cement floor, sadie soon joining him. "being here makes me feel crazy."
"if it makes you feel better, it makes me feel crazy too. but hey, we can go crazy together then, right?" he smiled at the girl.
"crazy together." she repeated, smiling.
"also; the reason i don't stay up here for long is the fact that it gets really creepy and i feel like a full blown ghostbuster up here." he laughed lightly at his own joke; sadie joining.
"i've never seen that movie."
"what! really? how?" he looks shocked.
"i don't know; i never got around to watching it i guess." she pulls her messy hair behind her ear.
"well now you have to watch it!" he laughs, "also, jack is spending the night in noah's room, i didn't care to ask why but do you maybe want to come watch the move with me?" he asked.
"how?" she looked at him with a confused face.
"natalia's laptop. she leaves it here over night though she doesn't work the night shifts anymore." he explained; "it's not he first time i've used it; there tons of vintage movies downloaded on there." he smiled more.
"okay; fine. only if we're not going to get caught though."
"me? getting caught? highly unlikely. the staff here think we're stupid." he laughs, standing up, and helping her up too. "we should probably get back now. millie is probably wondering where you are."
"yeah, probably. let's go." the blue eyed girl said before opening the door and heading back down the stairs, with finn following close behind.
