Chapter 26

"Come on, Zach, you can't avoid recovery and therapy any longer. You want to get out of here faster, right? Then get off your lazy ass and get down there with Doctor Stokes, now." Corbyn, being the father he is, spoke to Zach like he did when they first met through Caid. Used to, these tones would cut a hole into Zach's heart for making Corbyn so mad, but now, Zach couldn't care less. He didn't even remember his friends, much less want to listen to them.

"Mr. Besson, you are going to have to leave. Visiting hours are over." A nurse said and Corbyn shook his head in disappointment at Zach. Zach could hear a tiny voice in his head screaming at him to reach out, but it was overpowered by the other voices telling him to just leave him be. You don't even know the fucking guy, let him leave, Zach thought.

After he was alone in his hospital bed, he just felt tears fall down his cheeks, slowly. He ran his finger across his cheek to make sure it was real, and it was. He remembered seeing Jack that day, the day he came out of the darkness. How hurt Jack looked. Why?, Zach thought.

He reached for his phone, but it fell of the desk beside him. He turned onto his side, reaching for the cold ground, only to make him roll off the bed, and hitting the ground, hitting his knee onto the hard and cold tile flooring. He screamed in pain, feeling a shock of pain flow and continue to roll down his body from head to toe.

He reached for the remote to call for help, but he couldn't. The remote was still on the top of the bed when he had fell, so he had no way to contact help. He saw his phone, calling the last contact on his phone. He could feel his vision slowly decreasing as the phone rang.

Hello?

[Zach]
Help... Please

[Unknown]
Zach? What happened?!
Hello?
I'm calling Corbyn right now!

Zach looked lifeless as his body was connected to all sorts of cords to make sure he was still breathing. Corbyn had been on the phone with Jack, who was currently waiting at the airport to go home with Jordan. Nate had already went home, not letting everyone know.

"He is still out." Corbyn's voice sounded upset.

"Why would he have ended up in the floor??? How did he get there? Did he fall?" Jack questioned, panicking in the middle of the airport.

"He had probably went to reach for something and fell off the bed. He is back on his bed, but out cold." Corbyn stood at the window of the room, staring in at the boy who had cords going to different types of cording, keeping him alive.

"Do I need to come back? Do you think he needs me?" Jack asked, standing up from his seat and pacing back and forth.

"No, Jack. Look, I know you love him, but he doesn't remember you. You doesn't remember me, he doesn't know we ever existed. We can't do anything to help him. Let's just never tell him the real reason he was here and about Andrea. He would be upset, even though he doesn't remember him. Jack, he is gone." Corbyn could hear Jack's heart break into tiny shards. He felt so bad for the boy, knowing he didn't lose only a friend, but he also lost a brother and Jack lost a boyfriend that he could have grew older with. "It is just best we let him go on without us. He hates me and Daniel as it is. He needs to move on and leave the bad life he had before. I will call him mom today and tell her to take him back to their home, not to ever mention us to him again." Corbyn started to choke on his own tears, feeling like he lost the biggest part of himself.

Corbyn could hear Jack crying on the other side of the phone, saying the same word over and over again. No... Was all Jack could say. He didn't want to lose Zach.

Finally, after it all sunk into Jack's mind that he does need to let Zach move on and get a new life without himself, Corbyn, Daniel, Caid and Emma and their baby, Jordan, Nate, Andrea... It was a terrible thought. But, Corbyn was right.

"Okay... I want you to go into his room, take his phone, and delete all our contacts. Caid and Emma's, mine, yours, Daniel's, all of ours. Don't leave any traces that we ever existed. Delete his photos of us, don't let him ever knew we were in his past life. It hurts like hell, but this what he would have wanted. I hurt him too much, and I wouldn't want to remember myself. It's terrible, but worth it for his future." Jack said, breathing in and out slowly, trying to process how he would forget his first true love.

You can do it, Jack, Jack thought.
