"Caden... Tyler..." Jordan sighed, gripping Jack's hand harder.
"You guys know each other?" Zach asked, meeting eyes with Jack. Zach could feel something when he looked at Jack and saw his dark eyes. Jack looked like a deer in headlights when he would glance up at Zach.
"Alright. Zach, ask us anything. We are here to help your memory. If we can't answer them, we know someone who can." Corbyn explained, feeling like knives were stabbing him from every angle as people looked at him for answers.
"Why do I keep seeing a guy. He is tall, dread hair, bright blue eyes, dark complection, always wore workout clothes, and very tough? Who is he?" Zach asked, trying to remember the features he saw in every image he saw before his eyes.
"That is Andrea Hester. He was a very good friend of yours. He was very close until he moved a few years ago. You and him were very close when he was around. He knew a lot more about you than anyone. You would send him letters all the time from a young age, then he stopped. He came back a week before your accident... He was with you when it happened..." Daniel was starting to get emotional thinking about Andrea.
"The night that you got hit by the truck, Andrea was the one that saved you. He put himself in front of the truck and pushed you. He knew how much you meant to your friends and family that he was ready to risk his own life for you. Andrea died the next morning. He couldn't make it through surgery. Jack spent the next few nights at the hospital to wait for you to awake. We would make him go to the hotel to sleep because he was worried you would wake up and miss him. He was your best friend at the time. Then, when you did wake up, you despised his existence. You couldn't even stand to breathe the same air." Corbyn was strong, keeping his composure together.
"Why? What the hell did you do to me to make me hate you? Huh?" Zach looked at Jack with the same hatred as he did at the hospital.
"I... I..." Jack couldn't even think of what to tell him.
Before Jack would give a response, there was a knock at the door.
"I'll get it!" Reese ran to the door.
When she opened the door, a tall figure stood at the door and just smiled at Reese.
"Nattie!!!" Reese jumped into Nate's arms, giving him a big hug.
"Reese! You have grown so much since I saw you the last time!" Nate was ecstatic to see her.
He walked into the living room where every was looking at him in shock. "Hey, sorry I was late. I slept in on my flight and forgot I had one." He chuckled.
"Nate!" Jack stood up and ran to Nate to give him a hug. He has never wanted to see Nate in his life as much as he did at that moment.
"Whose he?" Zach asked, whispering to Myta.
"An old friend of yours. He was called in last minute, but he agreed to come and help. He knows a lot and wanted to help you." Myta said, standing up to hug him.
"How are you Mrs. Herron?" Nate smiled.
"Good, let sit down and continue." Nate sat down beside Jack on the couch.
"The reason you hated me so much was because we bad a big fight the day before. That's why Andrea took you out on a walk." Jack explained. He couldnt tell him why they fought, it just wasn't something he wanted to do.
"Why did we fight?" Zach asked.
"Well, you fought because you both liked the same girl and wished to be with her, but you insisted you like her more. So, you fought and then we're going to throw punches before Andrea stopped you and took you out." Nate saved Jack and the rest. He knew how hard it was for Jack to say what had really happened, so he kept that to himself.
"Who was the girl?" Zach asked.
"Katherine Bylie!" Jordan shouted.
Caden and Tyler knew exactly who that was, and they gasped, not realizing they were back.
"Whose she?" Zach asked. He wanted to see a picture to confirm why he liked her so much.
Jordan showed Zach the photo of Katherine and saw Zach's expression change. He was blushing, embarrassed.
"Okay, so, I liked her?" Zach asked.
"Yes, so did Jack and I." Nate said, putting his arm around Jack's neck, trying to have a playful behaviour to lighten the mood.
"What about the tree?" Zach asked, seeing the same tree on the hill on his way to school.
"What tree?" Corbyn asked. Everyone was clueless to what he was talking about.
"There was a tree, a woman, a picnic basket, a chair, and a rope. She looked at least 50-years old or younger, but she looked almost similar to Andrea.. It was on a blood red sky and the tree looked almost pitch black. Who was she?" Zach asked.
When he finished explaining the setting, the group of boys just froze. They were blown away that he had been there to see it happen.
"Ah... Well..." Corbyn and Daniel stuttered. "That..."
