Chapter 5 - New Girl

MERETIANA'S POV.

I wake up and clean myself up. It isn't dawn yet, Saia says the sun rises around 6:30. I check the time on my phone, 6:02. I clean my face then dry it. Walking towards the kitchen I see the light is already on. I enter to see Saia cooking some pancakes, bannana pancakes. Mmhhn

"I like your morning hair" he laughs. I punch his shoulder.

"Ouch! Whatever, bus leaves at 7:48 n school starts at 9:00" he tells me. Finishing off the pancakes I grab a few and start eating.

After I finish my pancakes I go to my room to get ready. I see it's 6:23. I first put on my white button shirt and some black shorts. I slide my green dress over the clothes. Man, I look like a girl.

I strap on my sandals and brush my hair. After a while my thick gold/brown hair is untangled and I begin braiding my hair. I finish braiding my hair and the 2 braids come up to my belly button. I notice my tattoo is sticking out, making me look badass. I see it's 7:12.

I go and pack my books and pens into my Purple Londsdale bag. Mum didn't know how much classes I had so she bought what looks like 20 books. I get some money I exchanged at the airport and put it in my bag.

I pack my phone in the side pocket of my bag. It's 7:36. I walk down too see Saia in a white button shirt and yet another skirt like the one he wore yesterday but this one was green with two white stripes.

Saia begins laughing when he sees me.

"Shut the f up before I punch you" I warn him.

He puts his hands up in surrender.

"Bye Aunty!" I yell.

"Auntys not home stupid, she's at work" Saia tells me. We walk to the bus stop and I notice we are the only 2 there. We wait until it's 7:48 then the bus comes.

Buses here are so different to the US. I get in noticing it's not that packed. Saia sits down and I take a seat next to him.

"Why are you sitting here?" He asks.

"I ain't sitting next to someone I don't know besides you should be glad sitting next to me" I grinned then laughed.

"Fine, you nervous for Liahona?" He asks.

"Nahh" I answer. The next stop a bunch of boys in the same uniform as us jump into the bus, they come and sit around us. One guy tall, built wait they all were tall & built but anyways, him and Saia engage into a conversation in Tongan.

Is that the code language when you's ain't wanting me to hear what you's are saying now? I hear my name come out of Saia's mouth and kick him in the shin.

"Uhh Mere, what was that for?" He says rubbing his foot.

"Um, foot slipped" I give him a Cheshire Cat smile.

"Sure. Anyways Mere, this is my mate Kaina, Kaina this is my cousin Meretiana" he introduces.The boys keep staring at me like I'm some meal.

"Ya'll better stop lookin before yo eyes come out of your head" I snap.

"She just say that" Kaina laughs.

"I would listen, Aunty told me she's been in Juvie and caused a girl brain damage" Saia says. They all look to the front and stop talking. Yeah that's right, no one messin with dis! Saia explains that here Tonga has forms instead of grades.

After we arrive at Liahona HS. Man how different this is from Lakemoore High, same acronyms different places.

"C'mon we gonna be late" Saia says as we walk across the hall. The whole time I felt all eyes on me. Whether they were dirty looks or seductive, they needa know who I am.
